Shankar's skills are nice but his vocal range is extremely limited. He sings all the songs in almost the same scale everytime which can make most songs sound quite bland. Also ofc he doesnt have the vocal throw & belting of KK either, and nor the vocal expressions/emotions like Sonu Nigam or Javed Ali.

Shankar Mahadevan cannot do a mame khan and vice versa. So a song that requires rustic touch obviously requires a different artist and its not too complex for a super pro singer like SM to decipher this.

@@vellaaatma4441 My man, what do you mean his vocal range is extremely limited? I've been listening to him for nearly two decades now. I've heard him sing using full chest voice in a ten year old girl's pitch when he was judging a reality show. I've also heard him sing in an unbelievably low pitch during one of his Shakti concerts. It must have been low enough to rival a bass guitar's thickest string. He's got a nearly five octave range. He has enough emotions in his voice to make you tear up at a sad song, and feel like dancing at a happy song, sense the longing in yourself in romantic songs, and so on. His classical improvisations and range is unparalleled. I get that you're a fan of the names you mentioned, but I'm afraid neither KK nor Javed Ali can hold a candle to Shankar Mahadevan's level. Sonu Nigam, while indeed a maestro himself, will agree with me that Shankar is beyond him. I'm not trying to compare, because they are all special in their own rights. But please do not think that he has an 'extremely limited' vocal range, because that's absolutely not true.

I personally find it a pity that these people make films in Hindi language, but Interview is in English 80%. Is there a lack of appropriate words in our language or where is it? I have lived in Germany for 30 years and I can tell you that when a German gives an interview, there is not even an English word in it. But our people hardly speak their own language, how much we love foreign languages but neglect our own language. I am not against English, but we make music in Hindi/Urdu but interview in English.
