Thank you for sharing. If all containers once opened had pathogens that early, then why wouldn't that apply to commercial saline solutions that contain only water, salt, trace of potassium. Personally, making sure you don't dip your fingers into the solution; using only clean utinsels every time, would both help maintain the solution for longer. I would pour solution from the larger jar into sterile dropper or smaller bottle, and use from that smaller one until time for more. I would sterilize the small jar between uses as well.

Speaking as a nurse, once you open a container, you need to use it within 72 hours. After that, it runs the risk of growing pathogens.

I make colloidal silver and use it for these issues. My granddaughter had an earache recently so I had her lay down with the affected ear up and poured some silver in her ear placed a warm wash cloth on it. She fell asleep, and the next morning told me it was better. Thnx for the recipe for saline solution.

I also make my own Colloidal Silver, and nebulizing it with saline is great for lung congestion, asthma, bronchitis. So much less expensive to make our own than to purchase!
@Izzy-ub9sb9 ай бұрын
Yes, good tip. i have used colloidal silver that I make as well. Have you seen the cost of those silver bandages? Big savings. For eyes though, I am a bit nervous to use the silver. I like the salt water solution so natural to our own tears.

hmmm hadn't thought to pressure can it!? my 12 yr old son has some medical conditions where he uses saline solution on a regular basis. children's hospital of WI advised me to just mix tap water with table salt in a container and shake it. 1 tsp per half a liter. So that's what I've been doing for his flushes and wound care.

You can rinse contact lenses with it, but don't store them in it. You need to use an all in one contact solution which disinfects, remove proteins and cleans.

So let the pressure canner steam (build up pressure) for the ten minutes and then put the 10# weight on, let it get up to the 10# of pressure, and shut off the stove? Let it be, overnight, with OR without the weight on (after it gets back down to zero)?

Hi Brad. I am sending you this off-topic comment based on your discussion recently on AI and End-Time Prophecy because I was late in seeing that video. This is important in terms of background. Hope this is not too much of an intrusion. Few people know where the concepts of virtual reality were germinated. Believe it or not the idea starts with the famous philosopher George Berkeley (commonly known as Bishop Berkeley) who lived from 1685 to 1753. He is an empiricist philosopher whose basic idea was that our total experience of the so-called real world is nothing but a series of coordinated sense perceptions. His key phrase which every intro philosophy student learns is "Esse est Percipi" which means "To Be (to exist) is To Be Perceived" Basically all our knowledge of the world is based on an orderly sequence of sense perceptions. This is what makes Berkeley an extreme empiricist. This may at first seem ridiculous to you, but believe me his philosophy is very difficult to argue to argue against. Without going into lots of details, you may be able to see that from this position it would seem to follow that if I were able to give you the correct orderly series of perceptions of say, a Viking's life, there would be no way for you to deny that you were a Viking. HERE IS THE MOST EXTREME POSSIBLE OUTCOME OF VIRTUAL REALITY AND HEREIN LIES THE DANGER. Today virtual reality is in the fun-and-games stage, but there is no doubt that in the future there might be no REAL world to be grounded in. BTW Elon Musk takes this seriously and considers it as the greatest danger.

you still need to sterilize the water. Either by canning it like they did or you can just boil it for 10 min after making. Let it cool before using obviously
