Dr. D explains how neurostimulation can help to heal dry eyes and increase the production of your own natural tears at home. She explains several of the neurostimulation devices and how they work to help cure dry eyes. What if you could increase the production of your OWN natural tears at home with an easy-to-use device? Well, what I just described is possible through something called NEUROSTIMULATION. In today’s video, we’ll discuss neurostimulation for dry eye past, present, and future and I’ll try to convince you why it's something you should consider if you suffer from aqueous deficient dry eye syndrome. #neurostimulation #dryeyedisease #dryeyes #dryeyesyndrome #dryeyestreatment #dryeyetreatment #dryeyedrops #eye #eyes #eyesight #eyeball #eyecare #eyedisease #eyediseases

Neurostimulation is an activation of the nervous system for therapeutic means. You may have heard of its usage in pain management specifically related to implantable devices. Recently, neuroscience technology has emerged in the Dry Eye space that is extremely effective at helping patients produce more tears.

hi dr, thanks for making this video. it was great and very informative. u explained everything really well and how n y it wrks as to the science n research behind it. i have a question for u if u dont mind. i had lasik done (biggest regret of my life) and have really bad dry eyes now. ive been wondering whats the cause of this and is there a cure to this? the artificial tears and hot packs i use help but not enough. im wondering if the cornea can be healed to how it was pre surgery and if there is any research into corneal regeneration or healing.

Dr. D, Again thank you! Question- I am learning so much from you. First, the trigeminal nerve, I have never heard of it,however I have used the nasal spray. I was given a sample. Makes me sneeze like crazy. It works. I’m curious. I don’t sneeze. I haven’t sneezed in years until the nasal spray. Yes, I have seen my ENT for tinnitus. She put camera up my nose. She said I am incredibly dry. So, in your opinion, could they be related? Curious? Also, I heard you mention “HSA” dollars. Will you explain what HSA dollars are? Is the trigeminal nerve only your eyes? Or possibly involve eyes, nose, dryness, etc. ? PattyS
@itear100
@itear100 2 жыл бұрын
The trigeminal provides sensory function through the face. the business end of the response however is the facial nerve with nerves which stimulate the lacrimal glands, meibomian glands and many different responses in the nose. a lot of iTEAR patients mentioned improvements in congestion symptoms so we performed and recently completed a trial in patients with rhinosinusitis and intend to apply for this indication from FDA. stay tuned.

I have chronic dry eye I'm currently working on correcting naturally with moist heat therapy and massages to the Meibomian glands to increase healthier oil production. I saw the Itears 100, but cannot find any opthalmologists in my area to prescribe it in order for me to also help me to produce more healthy tears. To make matters worse, I have recurrent erosion in both eyes which begins to generally occur more frequently and more severely around Nov. and throughout the winter months due to dryer winter air in Pennsylvania. I've purchased two humidifiers to balance our home relative humidity between 55-60%, and while it does help, the recurrent erosion episodes still persist but at a reduced intensity. In addition to dry winter air causing the recurrent erosion episodes to increase in both frequency and severity, and the humidifiers aiding in reducing the severity of the episodes, could the recurrent erosion episode frequency also be a result of winter barometric pressure being different than that of the warmer months?

Are you still suffering from dryeye
@Musicalpa
@Musicalpa Жыл бұрын
@@mrinvestor1932 Affirmative. Symptoms are improving slowly with the mibomian gland oil production quality due to minocycline and heat therapy, but it's an ongoing issue still. However, I had PRK vision correction in December of 2022, and there has been ZERO recurrent erosion issues since then.

@@EyeSchoolwithDrD I’ve had a massive adverse effect because of pregabalin last year. All of a sudden, after only two months of use. Increased strabismus ,loss of accommodation, dry eye, photophobia… after two months or so it came back to normal, except for the strabismus. Now it’s been several months I have dry eyes again - and I had never had dry eyes before the adverse reaction. Since that adverse event, I’ve also had constant spasms in the levator pelpabrae, on both sides. I’ve been wondering whether this drug could have caused small but permanent damage on the occulomotor nerve, or others.

Good Evening Dr. "D" about a month ago it was I requested a video like one that you did three years ago where you record your own personal exam to demonstrate an eye exam, You were kind enough to ask if I would enjoy seeing you have yours done or you doing one on one of your staff, I made a statement that it's kind of neat sometimes seeing a teachers who demonstrates by example, However I didn't think about this at the time but I should have said whatever is convenient for you. Whatever is convenient as I hope it's not holding you up in your video process my request.

this could be more of a neuropathic type pain which might not be treatable with standard dry eye treatments. Neurostimulation could actually make it worse. There are specialists who focus on this type of pain (e.g. Dr. Hamrah in Boston). a lot of patients who approach our company with this type of pain are being prescribed systemic medications used to treat other type of pain syndromes so there is help available but requires a super specialist. Hope this helps
