Incredible Desert Festival in India

The Desert Festival in India was a wonderful experience and we would of loved to experience all three days! If you're visiting the incredible state of Rajasthan during this time, it's an absolute must see!

The Jaisalmer Desert Festival is a 3 day festival which takes place every year in Jaisalmer, India. The festival is a showcase of traditional Rajasthan culture with different events from Camel beauty pageants to the worlds longest moustache competition!
We were there on the last day of the Desert Festival which was held in the Sam Sand Dunes, a 45km drive from the centre of Jaisalmer. And we were lucky enough to watch some camel races, a foreigner vs local tug of war game, motorcycle racing and much more!
To get there we hired a local driver, which cost 800 Indian Rupees each. This cost included transport there and back as well as dinner.

Go to Assam in Northeast India and see One horned Rhinoceros in Kaziranga national Park. Then go to Arunachal Pradesh and meet the Himalayan Cowboys who ride Yaks. In Meghalaya, go and see living root bridges and the Asia's cleanest village Mawlynnang. In Nagaland, Dzouku Valley.

Travel to north east to feel the real South East Asian environment Or visit South India like Karnataka and Kerala to feel the real Indian / dravidian culture
