The reason Marie Osmond is not in the photo is because she did not get into show business until late 1973. I can immediately see a photo of Richard or Karen and tell you the year it was taken. I would stare at their album covers and pictures sleeves throughout the 70s while listening to their music. I would watch all of their appearances on TV. I loved their specials. The Christmas specials were especially wonderful as the "Christmas Portrait" album (and the later released "An Old-Fashioned Christmas") are by far the best holiday albums ever created. Here's a big virtual hug to Richard for making my life so much better.
@SallyOlsonCarpentersLegacy6 ай бұрын
Yes, you are correct. I was behind the scenes taking the video and was thinking the same thing, that Marie Osmond was not in show business quite yet. I can also tell what year any photo of Karen and Richard was as taken. That’s what happens when you spend so much time studying their material and it’s my business to know these things. lol The Carpenters’ Christmas specials (and albums) are amazing and that is what our Christmas show is based on. So much fun! I’m sure that Richard would be happy to know that their music made such a difference in your life. Same is true for me. 🥰

I found it very interesting when RIchard was asked about playing at the Troubadour. If I heard him right he said they played there at basically an open mic. YOu got 10 minutes to do your songs? That is pretty cool to think about. I play open mics and it would be very mind blowing to know someone went on to become so world famous. The other thing I want to ask about are the cars in the background? Were those Karen's? I didn't know she was into cars until JOe from the Nashville Hall of Fame informed me that Karen dated Mike Curb and the thing they had in common was cars. I read Stewart Copeland's Police Diaries and it is fascinating to me to learn about how artists lived and what they did before they they became famous. HOw much work they must have put into their music and the gigs they played. THat would be a great conversation with Richard to have!!!! Thanks for posting!!!!!
