Good Call!!! How brilliant was that line? It got viewers to unwittingly do exactly what Liz did: To miss the Point. Liz's attention went right to a completely irrelevant matter of pure Form. In so doing, Liz was failing to see & focus on the important Substantive matter before her: That the document communicated evidence that Jack's Fiance may be homicidal. That, in turn, is the Substantive import of Liz's comment on the text formatting. The specific details of her statement regarding Blue & Green are rrere Form. The Substance of her statement was her error in focusing on Form over Substance. Thus, if we busy ourselves trying to figure out the significance of "Blue & Green" beyond the fact of its inherent insignificance, then we are guilty of the very same error. We will have missed the point. Note: Liz repeats the same error (not in Form, but in Substance) at the end when she attempts to correct Elisa on her Fatal Attraction reference. In sum: Yes. Phenomenal Writing!!! 😎 ~ TD, Boston

That's actually a racist joke. 30 Rock was definitely a very non-racist show. However, every now and then you can pick up on the racist tone the writers of the show forgot to remove from their scripts. It's not because a parade is loud that an entire group of people has to be known as loud. Salma Hayek proved that point. She was both portorican in the show and quiet.

Liz is definitely racist here, but that was the point of her character. She likes to think of herself as this liberal, open-minded, progressive person, but she has biases and prejudices, some of which she’s aware of. There was one episode where she confessed that she would tell everyone she voted for Obama when she actually voted for McCain. But there are other prejudices she’s not aware of or denies, and that’s the point. She is far from perfect and not just in her love life, but in her character. We see that also in the episode where she attends her high school reunion and realizes she was the class bully.
@garzapinups2 жыл бұрын
