He didn't change, that's called a defense mechanism, he is still the same person with his close ones and friends, his attitude towards gossip-hungry journalists doesn't define him as a person, that's just a 1% part of his life. And to be honest, the media doesn't even deserve niceness from him after destroying his public image, but he is still respectful to some good journalists who behave respectfully with him. So much innocence, genuine and natural behaviour of Salman khan, I was a child at that time and didn’t have Hindi channels at home , didn’t chance to see these interviews. Back then films were to watch on a video cassette rented from a video shop, only those who had a video player at home could watch a rented film for 24 hours, having a video player was a privilege .
