Thank you for this interview! I am so happy that Rushdie is the person he is! Fingers crossed for Quichotte, although so many formidable contenders! :) Kudos also to the interviewer for those simple yet genuine questions! (I do not know how to write either of those lines without an exclamation mark.)

I have been enjoying the entries in Wikipedia about Rushdie/Cat Stevens and the idea that Rushdie seriously thought Stevens was some kind of hostile only causes me amazement at the thoroughness of ___ ___.

It’s sad to see him disparaging Britain like that. It was Britain that kept him safe for 10 years after the fatwa. The people calling for his death in Britain were brown skinned Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslims, not the white skinned English.
