Great review! I was stoked when I saw Marc drop these in IG. I really wanted the White dial one due to the colors. Then the seafoam green one would be next, but then I learned the bor bracelet is not a true bor it is a faux bor bracelet. Each link is all ine piece, the beads or grains as some say don't articulate. Also that clasp is horrific on a $415 watch imho. I still like it and might overlook the bracelet and clasp to get one but it is not ony must have list.

I wish these microbrands would give a little more attention to their logos, especially when they're on the dial. I don't know what font Islander is using here, but it's generic, and it looks like it. Every AliExpress, Temu, Alibaba, eBay special, etc. uses the same font (or a generic serif equivalent), and it just sort of cheapens the entire experience of an otherwise really thoughtfully-designed watch. Even just the simple circle with triangle done in a silver applied style would be fine. But if the word is going to be on there, it needs to be stylized, IMO.

I have the original Islander salmon dial, the ISL037 and I really wish they had used this dial on that watch. I'm just divered out but I think Marc and team did a very nice job here nonetheless. Except that clasp, they have to do something about that clasp.

This is a very nice looking watch at a reasonable price. I know mark is fighting all the hate of the Sub-dial looking logo but because this one as you described as being kinda ghosted is much more palatable. 😊

A nice looking, cool watch. I'm not a date guy but if I was 6 o'clock is the right place. For me a Miyota 9039 would be perfect and worth every bit of $415. Way to go Marc!

Islander bracelets are decent quality and comfortable. The problem is that there are no half-links in the bracelet and only three micro adjusts on the clasp. Can make it difficult to get the perfect fit.

@@camarocarl7130 First of all, no need to get snarky. It is a watch with which you can dive. If you choose to only call a watch a dive watch if it has actually met ISO standards, fine. And I won't argue with you on that point. But in my book, it is suitable for shallow diving, therefore I'll call it a dive watch. Here's the verbiage from Marc's site. "The Port Jeff is a skin diver watch-skin diving implies exploration under the waves without the aid of SCUBA equipment. Water resistance does not need to be as high as professional divers, yet we still managed to make this watch a full 150 meters water resistant - enough pressure resistance for virtually any recreational diver.

Islanders are the nicest watches I'll never own..... that logo. It keeps getting said on nearly every review, and it gets said more than that because Marc deletes the logo comments from his own videos. It's time for him to listen. His stubborn love for this logo isn't doing him any favours. I owned one of his watches; a flieger without the logo on the dial. It was brilliant and I felt like I ripped him off because the quality of the watch far exceeded what I paid for it. I haven't bought another since because of the logo. Not the brand; I have no problem with the Islander name, brand, or Marc, it's the triangle in the circle pointing at half past 4.

I only delete comments if they are rude and insensitive. You can say anything rude, doesn't have to be about the logo, and it's gone. If you say "I do not like the logo", that's great, it stays, and I'll likely reply "thank you". You can replace Islander in your thought for "Christopher Ward" "Orient" "Zodiac". . . there is no shortage of brands where there is logo hate. It's all good, and I welcome all feedback. Read through all the comments and see how many people don't hate the logo. See how many people own multiples. Surely they do not mind. I'm glad you owned one, and hopefully you will again soon, thanks for your business!

My comments weren't rude or insensitive ( I think) and I only mentioned your logo as I did here with excessive praise of your well made watches at very reasonable prices, and added how my one purchase experience was excellent; and that comment disappeared. Maybe it was a glitch in the matrix. CW changed their logo for the better. This is the first I've heard of people not liking the Orient and Zodiac logos. No, you can't make everyone happy, but, as I said above, your love for that logo is stubborn and criticism/dislike of it runs deep. You've put the wordmark "ISLANDER" on the face of at least one watch I've seen and it looked so much better and received praise for that move in some of the forums I visit. Love your watches. Love your videos. You seem like a pretty amazing person I'd love to have a coffee with. But your logo needs some work.

Nice looking watch but I'm so darned tired of the term 'homage' Did you know that Rolex's are all an homage to all the other pre-dated round dial watches with hands? Sounds ridicules but this 'homage' thing is bordering on the ridicules as well. Buy the watch if you like it and can afford it. Rolex's are like moon dust anyway, plenty to go around but unobtainable.

I currently own 3 of Marc's watches and waiting for a reissue of his TGV Rangemaster. All of my purchases have been flawless in construction. (Talking to you Seiko) with your poor-quality control and now overpricing. Islander is a solid watch company in my opinion it gets better every year. It's a combination of quality and great bang for your buck and it's slowly moving away from homaging . The only issue I have is I wish they would customize their rotors for their display caseback watches, not drilling their lugs and the clasps. Thank You Chris, another great vid.
