Thanks for the comment, the amount of kelts in great condition is testimony to the quality of the river and those that look after it. Just remember that when those kelts come back they will be mid twenty's or bigger, as for the springers we need lots of rain that's all.

Hi, never met any pike while fishing the Blackwater but i would say that around Fermoy there may be some as there are alot of coarse fish there.

@Hincesti07 No the lodge isn't on the videos but the beats featured on my Blackwater videos are belonged to the Blackwater Lodge. They have thirteen beats in total and the rest will be up soon on my channel.

Nice video, but fishing for kelts will soon be all that is left. I have fished it for 40 years and it is a shadow of its former glory, and now with the grilse all but gone there is pressure on the back end and to extend the season, again chasing fewer fish. They say the fish are bigger, of course they are there are no grilse! They should never have closed the hatchery at Mallow, big mistake.

@maddmike98 A kelt is a salmon that has spawned and is now heading back to sea to recuperate and feed, then it will repeat the cycle by returning to the same river to spawn again thus becoming a multi spawning fish. You can see the full cycle in my video on Atlantic Salmon the life cycle on this channel.
