Just the sound of the river and the men at the end. Lovely video and fish. Always torn about keeping them.

I think as anglers we all do our bit to catch and release and promote it, but everyone is entitled to take something for their efforts every once in a while. well done sir beauty of a springer 👍

Well done mate! Nicely fished, hooked landed and kept. Isn't it wonderful how many more fish returned to our Irish rivers in 2020 when the boats were off. Lets everyone see it's not the fisherman who is doing the damage but the trawlermen, I wonder how they get so many and are able to get them ashore and sold with no questions asked?? Yet we have to listen all the shite about returning returning every fish we get!! You have tags with your license for a reason. Take some fish, you have paid enough for them. Tight lines buddy.

Thanks Simon yes was a big surprise to get into one on first day out! Caught it on a cascade. April is generally a better month I think for springers so you could do well.

Thanks I think I had a scandi line floater with a fast sinking poly leader that day. It’s just depends on water height I suppose. Drowes is tricky as some of the pools are quite shallow and snaggy

Spring fish are rare these days...the more people take out the less there will be in the future . C&R

The river is way over Conservation Limit, and a springer doesn’t necessarily spawn a springer, so killing one won’t make a difference to future numbers of springers.

@@roeangler Salmon stocks in almost all rivers are declining every year as a general trend. We can't keep taking from the pot, because eventually there will be nothing left in the pot.

Re the comments here on keep or release, I don't see any moral difference between taking a fish from the river and buying a trawler caught one. Of course anglers should limit themselves. From what I hear, many more are taken by nets from rivers at night but that's not discussed much.

Calling C&R beautiful is subjective and a matter for you. Some would say killing them is beautiful. No shame in killing a fish within the law.

@@roymccarthy9312 it’s a terrible shame killing a fine specimen like that!! Salmon anglers and the likes should have more sense we can’t control what goes on a sea ,however we can control what we catch!! if Atlantic salmon where plentiful then yes definitely take the odd 1!! Nowadays with smart phones etc We don’t need to bring home a trophy quick picture and release , I myself have killed plenty of fish in the past when I was young and stupid! Anyway you know i am right 👍

@@ryanferris7841 I fish the river Tees in the North East of England and mandatory catch and release was brought in two years ago because of dwindling stocks, I don't catch many but I did catch a fresh springer first trip out last year and after a short battle released it unharmed, I would have otherwise have killed it because I love eating g a nice fresh one but I'd like to think its gone on upstream to reproduce.

How do you learn to bring in a fish on a fly rod?
@stephensmyth9730
@stephensmyth9730 2 жыл бұрын
Same basic principle as any other rod but just a bit harder to control a fish because the rod is more flexible and probably be longer too.
