Another great video mate, ended up ordering some flies from Matt myself after saying I'm starting my adventure also chasing salmon. I'm going to be chucking some flies on the Tay next weekend with a fellow angler I met through work. hoping to give Matt some good news but either way, extremely looking forward to it! also its nice to be invited to time on the river with someone to learn from!

if you get chance to see it, well worth a view to see where the Glass meets the Farrar and becomes the Beauly. I saw this junction in July 2016 and the Farrar had so much force in the current flow o9n that day that it backed up the Glass for about 30 yards or so. It was a really interesting thing to see!

Stay tuned for the next video I took Chris up there not much flow in both rivers that day so didn't have the same affect as when you saw it.

Looking dapper there Chris. The worst thing about having spectators is that they always show up just when you're looking for a quiet place to do a weewee. They have no idea just how much trouble it is to take a camera harness, a PFD, and wading belt off in the 30 seconds of private time you've got before the next gawker comes along.

Thanks, i haven't had anything with a real load to test the drag but i am fairly happy with them. In hindsight I would have chosen a different reel tbh they seem to do the job

Hi Chris,still enjoying your adventures but just been lurking.My days on the Teviot recently have been rubbish due to the weather,first week no water then two weeks of constant floods.Just watched a video and thought you might be interested in seeing how much movement he puts into fishing the fly,SC Fly Fishing.Salmon Fishing On A Small River In The Scottish Highlands.Interesting to me just how much he works the fly.I expect you have noticed how well the Dee is fishing now after all the rain we’ve had recently,especially after the charity event was cancelled,burst ya eh.ok cheers the noo pal

CC, you fish a lot of places so I am wondering why you chose this beat. It looks like a lovely place, but the numbers aren’t very good (via fishpal). Any intel there? BTW, Active Angling in Stirling is awesome. I emailed them ref. the Oracle EXP and they held it for me for several months. Then when I went in to pick it up they were really nice and helpful with information. Keep droning on.

Good question! Fishpal isn't always the only place that these fisheries sell their days and rely on people completing catch returns. I had heard from other fisherman that it was a nice picturesque beat so thought i would give it a go.

I've fancied a day there for a while. Never gotten round to it though. L think the catch records there suffer from low fishing activity.

I have never fished the Tay but I would suggest that you could be fishing a fly that is far too big. At this time if year a Size 12, or a size 10, could work better.

You are probably right Rodney but i cycled through.most hook sizes every day but to no avail 👍

It looked quite a big water to me. 8's on the point and 10's on the dropper for me at maybe six to 9 inches on summer level but at that height I don't think Chris was far off.

If it was a big water then he probably would have been more successful spinning. A lot of fish seem to get caught on the spinner on the Tay.

@rodneykaye9399 Not everyone likes to spin - me included. With modern tackle you can fish high water effectively with a fly rod with the added advantage you won't get a bad back.

@@philippendlebury4518 I have to admit I would prefer to fish fly only, I do have a spinning rod but after 10 to 20 minutes my back is knackered as well
