This includes some reminiscing on the golden era of soccer cleats, stories of run-ins with sneaker industry insiders like Steven Smith and Frank Cooke, and a hypothetical around letting Virgil Abloh bless your Off-Whites. Plus, a look ahead to all the fun that will be had at ComplexCon, where the podcast will be recording a live episode.

I also wore Duffs skate shoes back in the day because I wanted to wear something no one else had. Sadly the footprints I left in the ground had me caught red handed one day. 😂

I just got a my first pair of On and Hoka and agree the Hoka feel much nicer. Definitely on the Salomon train though, I find the XT-Wings 2 more comfy than the XT-6 & XT-4

The most begged sneaker(s) I wanted was the CDP 2/21, went back a week later after release and she got them for me But aside from sneakers, I begged my mom to get a few pairs of Girbauds, what a time ! Y'all knowledge on even soccer cleats is mind blowing man being that I used to play and remember a few ! Another amazing episode !

Showing my age... My first Salomon shoes were grind shoes. Hahaha. The had plates for backsides and frontsides... Souls as well. Quick lace system and a stash for the lace lock. They looked wild. I actually got compliments from non skaters all the time in the early 2000's. In em.

man, sometimes the crazy cleats looked so dope to me that I would grab them off the shelf to stare at them and try to figure out how to either take the cleat off or how I could stylishly completely cover the spikes so I could rock them

On makes GREAT running shoes! I'm a long distance runner and ran in them for years. A bit heavy compared to what I run in now (Saucony endorphin pro 2), but still a great running shoe.

I remember asking my parents for those Jeremy Scott Adidas sneakers with the butterfly wings on the sides (the white ones not the iridescent ones). They laughed because they are so expensive. I still think that it is a great shoe to this day.

Relatable story on the hokas. I went to visit my uncle and he’s been boasting about his hokas since he started going for weekly hikes since last spring. I didn’t even know about the brand or anything but it seems like its a older mid life persons athletic shoe.

First time I saw Hokas was on my honeymoon in 2010 in La Reunion, which is a french island east of Africa. Strange enough. I remember being fascinated by their thick midsoles and couldn't imagine you could run on trails with those. Years later I got my first pair and I felt they were pushing me forward when running. They obviously had no budget to really promote that innovation like Nike did with it's Zoom Next% or whatever that shit is called.

I mean it's been a thing for decades. ACG? Love some of the Salomon xt-4 and 6 cw's. Hypebeasts are more into hype collabs, not GRs anyway. Also, sticking to AJ1s and 3s and Air Maxes gets old at some point.
