The OA needs to come back and finish it's arc. Whether Netflix continues it or perhaps another platform provides the opportunity. There are so many of us that the show touched in a very real and fundamental way. Brit and Zal found a language that spans worlds within all of us. I've worked on 19 movies and shows and the reason, aside from me loving working on projects, that I keep going is because of shows like The OA. Its such a special show. @20:53 I'm so glad they're talking about the importance of weekly episode drops so people have time to debate and talk between episodes. That's EXACTLY what The OA needed. It was such as binge-able show, but if people were forced to wait a week between each episode the word of mouth would have driven an audience that rivaled Game of Thrones - seriously.

The OA was a fantastic, unique, beautiful show. While I was watching it I couldn't believe I was watching such a well written show, with wonderful actors who brought the story to life. I was totally hooked. I was so sad then angry when I found out Netflix cancelled this series. I think the overall feeling of the plot was that pain and suffering happen so we can tap into something else more wonderful deep inside of us. The OA gave us a glimpse of something we all have thought about and felt ourselves and just put it in a way people could experience and understand it in a show. I mean science has even said alternate realities could very well be a reality with string theory and alternate "universes". It is a very great subject and really never described in the way Britt and Zal did it. Hopefully we will get our wish and see the continuation of the OA.

One word to me describes Brit Marling, ethereal. She just has a way about her. The work she has done with SciFi like "The OA" and "Another Earth" along with "The East" and "Sound of my voice" all make you ask for more from her and her partner Zal. They tend to have very original story ideas and the plot/dialog is complex. Sometimes their work can kinda "drag along", but you need to get through it to really get the whole picture of the story. It's like reading a good book that has some sections you need to work through in order to get the end and be satisfied with the overall story. I recommend "The OA" and watch it a couple of episodes at a time. Doing a full-on binge would cook your brain a bit.

What OA and Twin Peaks have in common is us being on the investigation of the mystery. Both OA and Twin Peaks were created with healing in mind at the point in time where stories are reduced to costs, predictability and lack of imagination. Another commonality they share is the decisions of the upper echelons that put the show into a halt. But at least Lynch got to tell the end of his story in season 2.

For the record... Between Darby and Prarie from the OA, I feel they are two of the strongest female leads I have ever encountered in writing. Like Brit, I have been disgusted by Hollywood's perversion and destruction of what it means to be a strong female. Qualities that are sensitive, intuitive, and spiritual are commonly tossed out the window as "weak". As a society, we have it completely backwards concerning what female strength really is. One form sells it's soul for some illusory form of strength, the other most people have been brainwashed by modern society to hate and judge.

She did an interview with Variety, and she explained that.. althought the OA had more than 24 millions people watching the first season, Netflix didn't carred enough. So from the get go.. and when they started season 2 they did knew that somehow, it will come to an end. The new show does have story elements linked to the OA (saying otherwise would be denial.. the connections are so strong). Since netflix isn't going to let go the IP, the best bet would be.. the story being told from another perspective, and theirs new show is the clue.

We're not seeing 'the forest for the trees', so to speak. Watch Sound Of My Voice, Another Earth, I Origins, The East, and the short film The Recordist. Had that same AI discussion with several people, it was honestly kind of heartbreaking that the response that I got about AI generated and increasingly "seen as a commodity" content is what does it matter if you can't tell the difference or at best a resigned "Well it's going to happen so why talk about it." Not saying I have a solution or anything resembling one, but art is an expression of the human experience and the more it is generated without our direct input the less I feel like it matters. AI tools can be useful equalizers for small businesses or creators of interactive media but like any tool I feel like it is being severely misused at present and I see it getting worse as it gets better.
