Definitely agree. You learn more from getting out of your comfort zone as every man has his own style. If you've never danced with someone before, you have to be more sensitive to their lead as you don't know what to expect. Most men use the same moves and you get used to them.

Hi Mariana, totally agree! As a follower you get so much better if you learn how to follow different kind of leads.

Definitely need to dance with more than one partner! It helps improve your dancing as you need to adapt your techniques to suit the different styles of the ladies. It's good for the ladies too as they experience a variety of moves. Many have told me that most men only use about 8 moves so to get variety ladies like to dance with as many men as possible so they don't get bored! We do modern jive/ceroc as well, and I remember being told you should aim to dance with at least five different ladies during an evening. Same applies to salsa. Keep dancing, keep changing partners!

When I first began 3 years ago, many women did not want to dance with me as I had no idea what I was doing plus also some cultural biases. So when the instructor asked us to change partners only two students danced with me. As I progressed some others noticed and began to allow me the chance to learn with them. Now all the women in class have no problems dancing with me, and we have even gone out social dancing as a group. It is good to dance with multiple partners so that everyone can improve and get a better idea of their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as how to adjust for the different levels of dancers.

Very cool. I still miss my friends at El Grandia and it's been more than 10 years since I've seen them

When I go to a social, normally alone or with a friend, I like to dance only with girls I don't know. Is when I really learn, and feel more confident.

Hi Mike, just talk to each other. It is for each other benefits when it comes to dancing. If you are not comfortable with it just be open minded to exchange thoughts about the subject
