I was so thankful that the whole family showed their love and support by eating what the boy lovingly baked.

I have watched the video twice. It is so inspiring 😊 I want my family would be like this one. My parents had got divorced when I was 15. I haven't had a model of an ideal family. But my grandma supported me and her love was enough to fill my life with warmness. Now I am a young wife and I am eager to build atmosphere of a happy home. What about your experience? Have you got a supportive family?

😳 0:34 I’m a little disturbed that he sneezed & didn’t wash his hands. Instead he proceeded to handle the ingredients. He even used that very hand that touched his nose to scoop out, what appeared to be pumpkin filling for the pie.

I never knew this story till now but it’s interesting because I had a similar experience. I was young maybe 9 or so and my mother and I had joined Grandfather’s tradition of volunteering at Saint Anne’s Infant Home in DC. I was so excited to help I decided to bake my first apple pie from scratch with no help. I misunderstood the directions for the seasoning on the apples slices and added WAY TO MUCH salt. The pie was beautiful but inedible. I learned and never made that mistake again and was happy to share my home made apple pies with the orphans and young single mothers every Christmas till I moved away. I still have the cook book, Joy of cooking, and to this day there is little pie finger prints on the apple pie 🥧 page.

‘Salt - A Thanksgiving Story’ To celebrate the national holiday of thanksgiving was the day when ‘Pilgrims’ from Plymouth, England shared an autumn harvest feast with local native Americans in Massachusetts hundreds of years ago. At that time, a boy in an American family, named Jack, had a dream of sharing a pumpkin pie that he would make for the dessert. In the kitchen, Jack wore a white toque chef hat but oddly not wearing an apron. He was a little anxious and nervous. To prevent dough from sticking on the table, he sprinkled the flour powder on the table with right hand before he kneaded a ball of wet dough with his two hands then rolled and flattened it with a rolling pin to get the pie crust; after that, he put the pie crust into a big transparent glass plate. Next, he prepared to put ingredients into an inox bowl, he felt itching in his nose which almost made him sneeze, but he prevented himself from sneezing at once. Furthermore, he broke an egg, poured and scraped all the ground pumpkin flavoring from a can into the bowl. For a moment, he had forgotten what to do next, he carefully read instructions on the ground pumpkin flavoring can and remembered what to do. Thus, he had known that too much salt is not good for health and could cause the stomach to bloat so he only scooped a cup of the salt from a jar into mixing bowl; he stirred and blended all of them together including the egg, salt, ground pumpkin, later he poured this mixture on the pie crust that he made previously and brought all to bake in a large oven. Afterward, he had finished the pie. He was thrilled to share it with his family members. At the dinner table, everyone was there, including his father, mother, grand-mother, aunt and uncle. They had just finished dinner. - “Jack. Can you bring the pie you baked?” His dad told him. Everyone was delighted and smiling, he left and brought back to the table a large pumpkin pie that he made for dessert. He surprised everyone. First, his mom tasted it from using her finger and whispered to her grandma. - “It turns out not being bad”, but both didn’t express their feelings to everyone. They were waiting for his dad’s opinion. His dad was gawking at the wet hot-boiling pie and was seemingly worried while Jack was covering his mouth with his two tiny hands as his uncle was staring at his father. The heavily silent air covered the dining room, everyone held their breath, then his dad used a pie server to cut the pie slowly and put a slice into his plate: he savored a little mouthful with his fork. - “This is so scrumptious and wonderful; however, it turns on a little salty,” his dad said, continued to eat another mouthful, wanted to support and encourage the boy’s attempt to cook, then he nodded continuously in agreement and smiled; everyone grew happy and joyful and began to share the pumpkin pie. They all felt warm during this meal. All in all, Jack was emotional and satisfied. He hoped he would become a great chef in the future. He was also thinking about how to adjust exactly the salt dosage to make pumpkin pie better during the national holiday of thanksgiving to share with his family members next year.

Boy trying to do something new. Boy misunderstands directions and adds cup of salt vs the correct cup of sugar. Pie is to salty but his dad wants to support him so he eats a slice with a smile leading the rest of the family to support the young boy and do the same. Boy is not crushed by his mistake and family shows their love and support by eating the salty pie 🥧 with a smile.
