In this video you will see some of Alaska's amazing fishing, beautiful views, and one of a kind salt water charter experiences from Seward, Alaska.
We went on 'Crazy Rays Adventures' fishing charters first boat out of Seward with Captain Dave and Deckhand Wyndham. Their boat was built in 2019 and this is her first year working for Crazy Rays Adventures. Captain Dave has been with the boat since she was made in 2019 and he has been working the waters outside of Seward for years.
They took us several hours out into Resurrection Bay to find us the best fishing spots. The entire trip out and back was filled with nothing short of breath taking views. Most of the untouched landscape looked like something you'd see right out of the Jurassic Park movies. We seriously were waiting to see some dinosaurs!
It was an action packed day full of fish! Starting the day off with Halibut and Coho Salmon (silvers). Then moving to Rockfish and finishing the day with more Coho Salmon. The crew ensured that just about every time we sent a line down we had a fish on it! They worked hard to make sure we all had bait and helped land the fish on the deck, giving us the full bloody deck experience. Everyone, twelve customers total on the boat, limited out on their fish that day with the exception of Joey, who failed to get his final Coho. What an awesome crew Crazy Rays Adventures has.

It was a beautiful boat! The crew was awesome and did a great job. As for the halibut, we just went with what they told us. We don’t know much about halibut fishing, which is why we paid the charter to tell us what to do! No one caught anything big this trip.

there's also an argument to keep the babies...they're not part of the breeding population. Any halibut over 50-60lbs is going to be a breeding female. That's the reason it's not a bad idea to keep some of the small ones. I don't know if it was mentioned, but ADFG put out a new regulation for charters a few years back regarding limits and that is one fish must be under 28" which is under 10lbs, your 2nd fish can be over 28" (or both can be under if you want). This only applies to charters, if you're fishing on your own boat, you can keep two 100lbs fish if you want.

They gave the group a choice of going after the big ones with a chance that everyone might not limit out or go for smaller ones but everyone gets to limit out. The vote was to limit out. On our next trip, we will pick the bigger ones! Thanks for the comment! We appreciate you.

🤣 Definitely didn't get the biggest ones! Regulations require you keep one that's under 28" and the other can be any size. The good news is we did limit out on our Halibut! Plus the smaller ones tend to be better eating. Funny too they are often called chickens due to their smaller size.

There are certainly bigger halibut to be caught in Alaska! This is what we happened to get this trip, and they are delicious 😁 Next time we will hope for some record setters 😂

They did ask us (meaning our party and the other party on the boat) if we’d rather have big halibut or multiple species that day. The majority of people picked multiple species, so that’s what they did. Guess we’ll have to go back and say we want them big fish next time.
