Saltair Sawmill Circular Saw Filing Center

Western Forest Products recently invested $2.7M in new saw filing technology and created a new central filing room at Saltair Sawmill in Ladysmith, BC.
This new facility specializes in circular saw blades and services our mills on the east coast of Vancouver Island. The collaborative environment improves product quality, reduces manual saw handling, and the wellbeing of our saw filing team.

I was A Saw filer from Georgetown SC. I worked at Interfor for some years as A Saw filer (Gang Saws) started at the age of 23 in 2018. Some college studying criminal justice and A security work history.... I really enjoyed my role. Now working with Band Saws cutting aluminum I still enjoy working with saws!

Do you offer a online class on saw filing or hammering

It's available as an afternoon training course, you may have some luck finding it available from your local community college. They'll teach you the fundamentals, such as putting the saws in the right way instead of relying on the coin flip method (which is still 50% accurate) as well as other useful skills such as smoke breaks on the hour, every hour and how to appear overworked while essentially doing nothing. The best part is that these automated machines essentially do everything required, unless the mill worked at lacks the resources to buy the automated equipment.
