It's fair to say ist Sounds German, because Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Finland, Danmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and England have all the same Germanic roots, and all of them speak a kind of Germanic Language. That makes us all Germanic Brothers and Sisters 🤟 Odin/Wodan always watches over us! Good Video!

Language is old Icelandic. Alea apparently does a great job and studied the language before singing it. The old poem is from the Icelandic Eddas and tells the story of a Viking warrior being told by his mother what it takes to be a Viking after he killed his first man at the age of 7.

Germanic languages are naturally very similar, quasi dialects. This of course also includes the English language (Anglo-Saxons). Anglo-Saxon, term used historically to describe any member of the Germanic peoples who, from the 5th century CE to the time of the Norman Conquest (1066), inhabited and ruled territories that are today part of England and Wales.

Okay, just found this video and since its been online a couple of months now you probably figuered that out allready but that whats going on in the Saltatio Mortis video is a "Holmgang". It was a very ritualised way of setteling differences back in the old days.. So what you see is these two vikings (the singer and the female) getting into a fight. The matriarch or whatever you wanna call her decided that they have to settle this dispute once and for all and the execute a holmgang. There where a couple of different rules to this highly ritualised "1 on 1" like not to leave the circle an depending on the time and place these holmgangs ended either with one of the opponents beeing dead or the winner is who ever draws first blood, like in this case... Anothe Holmgang is portrayed in the movie "the 13th warrior" feat. Antonio banderas (def. worth a look if you don't know the movie yet) All the action on screen and the story that has been told visually has obviously nothing to do with the song itselv wich is an icelandic nursery rhyme, made famous by the TV show vikings and the game Assasins Creed: Valhalla
@aaronbarlow4376
@aaronbarlow4376 2 жыл бұрын
In Viking culture you wouldn't get combat challenge between a male and female Viking. Firstly the whole shieldmaiden thing is a bit of a myth. Viking women were tough and could fight but incredibly rarely did they go into battle and no Viking man worth his mead would fight a woman in front of his fellow men. I believe the video is based off the video game Assassin's Creed Valhalla, where Alea is playing Eivor and the woman is the female version the player can select, his sister. The shaman is Valka.

Well in the beginning of the video those two "vikings" had a dispute over something and started to fight. The arbitrator (German: Streitschlichter) had to step in and act according to their culture by setting up a duel shown in the end of the video.

Driking Songs? Medieval? Fun? Met? ... "Metfest" by "Feuerschwanz": kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGScf4t7r6l9r6c --> They are just hilarious. Their German lyrics are so insane, you should definitely get an english translation ahead. Metfest = Mead Party but they use it also as "halt mein Met fest" --> Hold my mead tight ;-) "Sternhagelvoll" by In Extremo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKTdoqSqiJKAY5Y They are the most successful medieval metal band from Germany. They have some really great songs and liver performances. This is a "simple" drinking song with a 360-Degree-Video.
