Saltburn Cliff Lift

Saltburn Cliff Lift is one of the few remaining funicular railways at sunny Saltburn-by-the-Sea. Built around 1884 it still operates under gravity by adding and removing water from tanks that sit under the carriages. The speed, starting and stopping is controlled by the Brakeman.
The site has been very tastefully restored and includes stained glass in the carriages.
