Second guy was better informed just very biased. First thing is the low spender vs high spender. Anyone who plays the game knows there’s ships that are better that are expensive however the super expensive are made to were a single player can’t really be effective in them. A single player in a Polaris will get smacked by an eclipse because then Polaris pilot only has access to torpedoes and those can easily be evaded to where the Polaris can’t because of it’s size. 1. Yes I think there’s a value in the game not full “releasing” because a release sometimes means a halt of content. I doubt it does in this sense but no one knows. 1.5. A full release nowadays doesn’t mean much when a lot of games benefit so much from being in “beta” 1.75. Realistic a 1.0 means a massive implementation to content like progression, essentially starting the game. I see it as Q3 2026 to Q2 2027z 2. The economy is broken and is going to be adjusted a lot until it’s found the sweet spot and if anything influences which can change in the future. 3. Meshing wasn’t successful at extreme numbers BUT it being successful around 200 is in SC terms. It’s new tech and will improve over time, expecting perfection first patch is crazy. 4. Why do players spend insane amounts? Players don’t, orgs do or a player that has money to throw. A regular 9-5 isn’t spending that much. 5. Is it a scam, no. However the argument of 42 being one is there. 6. Why does it take so long for developers to implement thing. Tech limitations and no communication.
@Darktidejg313 ай бұрын
Its hard to answer the question whats the point or end game in a sandbox style game. For some its just enjoying the loops they like to play. For others, it's an emergent gameplay that pops up when interacting with other players. Some like the grind of saving for the goal ship they want. Some like to roleplay sole, with a small crew or in an org. The ships help facilitate different experiences for me but are in of themselves not the goal. What that new ship now allows me to do is the goal. I have larger ships but find I 80% use the C8R for how I like to play. I have 3 kids that play the game and spend time grinding to get their ships and they enjoy zero to hero so they each have just starters. For them the journey is where they find enjoyment. I just like to play with them when I have time. So I bought a few ships to facilitate my ability to play and keep up with my kids. They feel if you buy mid to end game ships you cheapen the journey as thats the game for them. So it all depends on your goal or point of view for the game. All I can say is We got into the at 3.17 amd they have been making great progress since then. Cant wait for 4.0!

Right now, starter ships can be used for combat and cargo - which is fine for those that enjoy combat and cargo - but not so fine for people who want salvaging and mining. Casino income mostly comes from retired/semi retired seniors who's blowing their pension every month in a way that's beyond their means. Star Citizen is probably funded by dudes without wives in their parents' basement. At least the majority. The fact CIG is forcing backers to vote against each other for parts of the game proves just how gullible backers are in the first place. They promised features and gameplay modes to everyone then decided to back peddle and make backers more or less fight for which side got part of what they were promised and the losing half gets nothing. The best part is that the people who win the vote still don't get what they want, it's just CIG promises that eventually they'll start working on it, someday, probably.
@Billy-bc8pk3 ай бұрын
Actually -- while the guy kind of got some things wrong -- it's good the first group didn't win because the game CIG was originally building was literally just Starfield. I don't see how anyone sees the way that game plays and goes "Yeah, I wish Star Citizen had stayed the course and was made like this".

Ok dude, I seriously laugh at statements like "it's not a game." Ok, i can start the program. There are missions i can do, things to explore, challenges to complete. Players to fight against. In what way is this not a game? "but it's buggy!" so was the original stalker and i still enjoyed it. "But it's not complete! They haven't delivered everything they promised." that's ok! It's *STILL A GAME.*

Star Citizen is not finished in any respect. You will spend most of your time dying for one reason or another usually because of crashes. Not being able to find out where you are or who your enemies are or what is actually going on. You will spend more time in elevators, rolling around in Black space looking for a place to go to get some little tiny object or MacGuffin that you will later try to use to get some kind of inventory. Either weapons helmets Machinery tools Etc. Those will often fall through the floor of your ship, through the floor or ground of the planet you're standing on or simply disappear, or be wiped when they upgrade the system or just simply poof they're gone. And because Star Citizen has written out their responsibilities to exclude anything of that nature they are held harmless. And the KZbinrs who do Star Citizen are either given extra support to get their entire video to look smooth add unencumbered with bugs . They have not even made the basics work in the game and it has been almost 12 years from what I understand. All they do is sell really cool and sexy looking ships into a game that does not exist into planets that you cannot get around on and into areas where you either get robbed or you will simply disappear. Sometimes it takes people a long time to figure that out, like me. Who feel very stupid now and sometimes people figure it out right away. But sometimes people dream and they dream and they dream and they dream and they just hope it's going to change and things will get better and they will get the game that they thought they paid for originally. That's never going to happen but they cannot accept that.

CIG is a private company. They are not required to release financial information to the public. They don't have the same level of oversight as publicly traded companies from the SEC or government agencies. As such, those financials are not combed through. It is interesting that in 2022 their financials went up by 29% to match 1 to 1 the 30% in income. You could say they hired more or just increased salaries to the already existing ones. Which employees got the raises? We will have to guess.

Ngl what would be funny is if when the game releases to 1.0 everybody starts with a small starter ship, and the ships you've pledged only unlocks being able to buy them in game right away. If I havn't pledged an 890j I'd have to unlock it first through missions and reputation, while someone who has pledged it can just buy it right away, as long as they have the UEC that is.

God, Asmon's chat is utter mushbrains. "THIS GUY A DEV"... Nah, this guy has been playing the game for years, he sees the potential, and he knows most of the info. Some of it's wrong, like the server meshing test. But for the most part, a lot of what he said was correct. I love Asmon, he's actually an extremely intelligent dude who puts on a front. I feel like he'd come at the game from a very curious standpoint. I think he'd be more willing to give other systems besides piracy a chance, which was Summit's downfall - he only focused on the PvP and Piracy aspects, and didn't really delve into anything else, which was expected being a PvP player. Asmon has a history of playing both PvE and PvP, with a heavy leaning towards PvE gameplay, so it'd be interesting to see his take on everything in the game, as opposed to just that one focused experience.

If there is one thing we can not believe, it’s cigs plans for LTI, cig have a proven track record for going back on things previously said when they actually come to implementing the gameplay loop. So just becareful with bold statements that LTI is meaningless. It could depending on implementation, be a pay to win nightmare that makes me not play due to a mental pay to win imbalance. It could, if the fee for people with non lti is 1 million to recover a ship or pay for insurance, someone who paid real money have saved 1 million in game credits every time your ship blows up. Let’s just say based on cigs history of back tracking things, I wouldn’t be so confident in my statements. It’s a real fear for me that after 15 years of waiting, star citizen ends up a pay to win mess that I wouldn’t want to play any way.

Jared explained LTI recently as the same as in freelancer, where it's mostly spaceport processing costs that's passively taking a tiny fee.

That sounds good when you say it. But what happens when you don't have LTI on your cash purchase ship, and your time insurance policy runs out? To many variables to include before anything real concrete becomes of insurance. For now its almost all speculation. What they have officially said, is that you will never lose access to your store purchased ship. The discussion about insurance seemed to put all focus on the word LTI, and didn't really mention the time policies on ships.

I dont get why he’s using GTA to rationalize P2W. I use it to argue the exact opposite. When GTA online first started on PS3 in 2013 getting money was extremely hard and grindy and there were only few super cars, so having even one actually meant something, they had value because of what you had to do to get them. My long distance cousin and I spent days and weeks to earn an Entify XF, which gave it sentimental value too and is currently the only car I’ll never sell over a decade later. Now with shark cards and modders handing us out millions, it’s normal to have garage fulls of them and they mean basically nothing because of how inflated the economy is. It takes all value and the experience of the game away from earning them.

When you consider some games have a price, then there is an expansion for a set price, so now you have paid more for additional content, then there might be a 'free update' that adds in game purchasing, so now you are paying for in game items, cosmetics etc. People can easily pay over a 100 bucks or more. Now there other games that operate a sub model, on top of an initial price for the base game, then there is the in game store, then there additional content and expansions most of which will cost money, so again over the time of your involvement in playing it you have spent easily over 100 bucks. Now times that by the number of games you have ever played, the number expansions for those games and any additional content for those games that cost you money and you might be shocked and surprised by the amount of money you have spent on gaming. Do that for any other subscription, service, you have used, and again you will be surprised at how much you have spent. the only question(s) that needs answering is: Has it been worth the outlay? Have you been entertained? Have you had value for money? Knowing what you know now, would you do it all again?

Asmond says he couldn't recoup his money... He just stated off two videos he could make around $20K, just from buying the Legatus Navium Pack.... Now, take this further... Make a video of gameplay with each ship combined with a new item once a week or so.... Over 100 more videos, say they only generate on average $5k per video... There's $500K... Looks like a good investment for him seeing as he already has a large, popular channel.

33:54 My personal believe is that they already cannibalized SQ42 sales so much over the years that If they do only PC release it wont sell because most of the people that would be interested in playing it already bought it. Hogwarts Legacy the best selling game of 2023, a game made to appeal to the most amount of players from a world renown IP that also sold on every current console (PS4/5, Xbox one/s/x, PC, and Switch) sold 22 million copies over 1 year. SQ42 releasing on just PC might see them only sell a couple million. Which is roughly what they make now per year. SQ42 will probably be delayed till the next consoles come out and release on said consoles so they actually can make good money on releasing SQ42
@CHIM3RA.3 ай бұрын
Exactly, in my opinion any big game company in 2024 that doesn't include consoles for their game is shooting themselves in the foot as consoles are still much more sort after for households because of how easy it is to plug and play for kids and on top of that they are second too none when it comes to multi-use lounge room functions like gaming, watching movies & TV shows, KZbin, sports, music via spotify or youtube as well extra gaming stuff like VR.

@SaltEMike you're correct at 9:50. I backed so long ago(2014), that I'm at like $1600 in total spent, just because I'd see something and want it. So I spent 160 per year (which includes the 120 per year for the base subscription btw) or so, and honestly, I think that's a lot of people. If you average out the account numbers to that $700 million dollars, it's $135 per person, which is high but not insane. That being said, I haven't given them new money in a while, just keep recirculating to try different ships.

Salt-E is on point here, but at the 1:27:00 ish mark surrounding pvp i take issue with. A brand new player does not need to worry about their loadout or even what ship they are rocking like an aurora or mustang. LEARNING the flight mechanics should take priority over everything else, even if only to learn how to avoid dogfighting altogether. CIG STILL need many kinks ironed out especially with MM. But there arent any other 6DOF fighters out there except maybe Elite D. Avenger_one, love him or hate him, knows his shit about dogfighting. His lengthy tutorials will give you a foundation to build said skills. Forget about small fighters taking out capital ships, that aint how the game was intended to be played. Lets talk about the reality of snub fighters like the Merlins or an M50s/M25s wiping their asses with F7A MkII's in the hands of experienced pilots. The 2nd dude is correct in this manner, but he's leaving out the grind it takes to learn the SC's evolving flight model.

The second guy "more honest"? It did not take long and that one annoyed me like hell. He did not get the stuff right. He got asked and answered crap. And his wording: "MMO Mode". When asked back "is this SQ41" he did not clarify, he mumbled around. Later on he started to waggle his e-peenis. Here in this video it got very clear: Yes you can buy it with ingame money BUT since SC is still ALPHA, the economy is not set and no one could know how fast one could earn enough to buy those ships when it finally arrives. And it comes always back to the most glaring question: WHEN will the game arrive? So the second guy talked more but told less.
