I’ve already had a run in with some journalist from SF when I bought a radium personal marker like the ones they found at Hunters Point. Very interesting perspective coming from someone like that. The guy found out about what I had bought from an Instagram post.

i have found 50 cal rounds out near here while metal detecting... I remember digging one up from about 10 inches deep and finding green corrosive goo coming out of the tip... so i put it down pretty fast lol

The only real issue with the salton is the lake. There is a contingency plan for when it eventually dries up. The bottom of the lake is where all the dirty bombs are

The cell service is a bit spotty but not bad. If you got stuck you might have to get to a high point to get service. But if getting stuck is your worry make sure to bring a shovel. The sand is pretty deep in certain areas.

There were a couple areas that were giving me a little higher than normal readings. I need to go back out there and do some radiation mapping. Maybe in the fall or winter...I hate going out there during the summer.

I know. It’s nice finding something hot but that’s not always the case in locations like this. Exploring a site like this has its own reward. Don’t worry, the next couple of videos have some pretty good radioactive finds. I’m also working on one tracking down a very radioactive area using an EPA radiological survey map that’s of an old uranium mining district.

@azc7785 I hope they figure out something with the sea. I’ve been going there for the last 15 years and it has changed quite a bit. If the water level gets low enough they are going to start seeing those aircraft sitting at the bottom of the sea.

@@RadioactiveDrew they’ve added hay stacks on the dried up beds along with other projects in trying to minimize the toxic dust… there’s more info on the Salton Sea management Program website. But so far no permanent solutions,unfortunately! Yes,on top of the toxic dust concern there’s the nuclear waste sitting under the lake to worry about too… I guess we’ll find out if you come back down to see and hopefully it’ll bring awareness👏
