I also read that with the ATO+ there is a setting in ReefBeat to only sound the alarm for high water level if the ATO pump has been running - this means when you turn off your return pump as part of maintenance the alarm wont go off but the ATO is still switched on so that after your maintenance it doesnt need to be turned back on. I think that is a great feature clearly designed by a reefer, I’ve turned my ATO off during maintenance so many times and forgot to turn it back on after

Great ecosystem. Never had issues with the products I've owned of theirs. Only suggestion, it is time for new stand designs. Maybe that's just me though 😆

Super exited about the ATO+. ..... if I hadn't just purchased a sicce sdc return pump for my reefer I would definitely go with that new return pump also

Your pump will plug right into the controller for the skimmer since the controller can do two things. Your pump is the identical pump with the same plug the Red Sea one just has a different plastic cosmetic cover outside. Buy the skimmer and the controller and you will be totally ready to run your pump and skimmer from the reef beat app

just FYI last titanium pin on the bottom is temp sensor. Not to fill. The middle will kick on the pump to start.

So if I have a ReefDose and dose my coral food I assume it will turn off the skimmer you so I don’t skim off all my Reef energy off?

That's the one purchase of Red Sea that I would change. Just purchased the entire setup late last year and the Red Sea skimmer 300 is a nightmare. You can set the level in the sump, which it is VERY finnicky, and at random times it will Still overflow. When it works, it works good, but top off water could cause it to overflow. It's so bad, I have a security camera inside the sump to watch it. It could drain your tank it's so bad. Now the ReefMat 500? The BEST piece of equipment I've ever bought.

Reefmat is the best. I’m not sure if you’re aware, but if you’re using the media basket it will significantly reduce the life of your roll. I switched back to my reactor for carbon and nearly doubled my roll life.

@@FoolOfATuque Yes, I have never used the basket. I have a separate carbon/GFO reactor. I feed heavily so my roll consumption is a bit faster.

If that is the same Sicce DC pump that has been out for a couple of years, I would give it a wide birth. Nobody seems to like them. The ATO looks promising, though. I like what RedSea is doing with their ecosystem, off the shelf control that anybody can get their head around. None of the products are best in class, but all together, they are a great proposition. Although their filter roll probably is one of the best out there.

The main issues with the sicce SDC have been with the app connection. From what I understood from RedSea, that has all been fixed with their controller and app

@Darren's Marine World I haven't had any issues with it personally, but I know that can be a very individual thing. Another interesting thing about the return pumps, RedSea also mentioned to me that existing sicce SDC pumps could be controlled using the new redsea controller to make them compatible with the reefbeat app. That is definitely going to be something I look into one their controller is available

@SaltwaterandLime You are right about aquarium product apps and the connection of equipment to them. It's still a bit rough round the edges in most cases for our hobby. I use a few Reef Factory products, and once they are up and running, the software has been bulletproof for me, really good. I dont think their products are stateside yet, but they are a little like RedSea with multiple products running off their own ecosystem.

@@saltwaterandlime I can confirm as an owner of a SDC3 it disconnects all the time. The pump itself is built very nice. The only thing you have you look out for is it uses ceramic bushings on a ceramic shaft and they sometimes get build up between them. This build up causes it not to start reliably. Dip in vinegar, spin the bushings, dip again and it’s good to go for a long while.
