I bought 2 of the Apex juniors and had nothing but problems with them. If you have a power outage the unit basically becomes corrupted and you need to contact and wait for an appointment with support to remotely connect the device to clear the corrupted code. Both units constantly fail to connect to fusion. If you do a reset you are unable to setup the device again since it never connects to fusion. One of the units is now being replaced with a refurbished unit. I will likely have to replace the other one as well. Support has no idea why these units are malfunctioning so there is no guarantee it won't happen again and there is no firmware update planned to fix these issues. I have never seen a company release a product that is so critical on it's functionality to be riddled with this many bugs. If these units can be somehow salvaged/replaced I will put them on my basic freshwater tanks but would never put on a saltwater tank with expensive corals or fish.

You can but a SunSun Ph and temp monitor. Connects via WiFi. You can setup up alerts and notifications. For less than $100 why does apex charge so much?

so if I just want too run a trident would this be the cheapest route. I don't really need the dos pump since I have a redsea doser just haven't set it up. so would I just buy the apex Jr and the trident or would yall just go ahead and get the regular apex
@perovic96 Жыл бұрын
So he says it will run trident. Trident page on Neptune site says not supported by jr. bloody frustrating understanding what works with what
@Saltwateraquariumdotcom Жыл бұрын
The only reason they say that is the JR has no way to power it directly. You can use the Trident on the JR you just have to plug the trident into the wall using an external power supply instead of plugging it directly into the jr with a 1link because the jr itself does not have a 1link port. It will run it, it just won't power it without a power supply or energy bar.

@@Saltwateraquariumdotcom thank you, that’s a great explanation. Neptune needs to put some work into their website

If only I weren’t poor.. I could reREALLY use one bc I’m having issues one of which is keep getting water on the floor thankfully it’s tile but the room next to it isn’t and if enough gets on the floor it’s headed to the other room which is a real good way to have an unhappy person ur living with
@billydanzz2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you need to solve the problem of why you keep getting water on the floor more than needing these devices.
@born2beashooterjosh3972 жыл бұрын
@@billydanzz I know why I keep getting water on the floor and am trying to remedy the issue it’s bc I’m having trouble stopping the micro bubbles coming out of my skimmer so I’ve been trying adding in filter floss or foam pad or bags of media to try n reduce the issue which hasn’t worked and has several times caused the skimmer to overflow and it’s a hob(I know I should have a sump but given it’s only a 28gal and I have no way to run a sump without some house modifications so I jus stick with the hob it’s actually too much as it is for my size of tank) skimmer so when it overflows it flows on to the counter and then on to the floor I’ll get it figured out I mainly want the controller for monitoring water parameters mainly salinity ph and alk bc I’m tired of having to do so many tests when I’m trying to nail down a dosing procedure if I had a trident or something then I could jus have current readings and way more easily dial in my dosing and parameters

@@born2beashooterjosh397 Drill a small hole in your skimmer, plug in a fitting, connect a tube and run it into a waste container...done. And for a 28gal system, a simple water change regiment is all that's needed to maintain parameters. A 5 gallon bucket for a 20% water change seems a far better option than spending close to a $1000 for a trident and an Apex Jr to run it....imo
@born2beashooterjosh3972 жыл бұрын
@@billydanzz like I said I mainly would want it for monitor and keeping stable parameters I most likely will never end up with one though bc I can’t afford it… I’m confused what u mean that would jus be a drain it wouldn’t stop the micro bubbles that my corals hate and it won’t stop water from overflowing bc where the return is the water has only one direction to go if the path of flow is restricted up and over the sides of the skimmer this on to the counter and eventually the floor I jus gotta get somethin else figured out to stop the micro bubbles without causing such a flow restriction… and the parameters all keep up with water changes except all for some reason and I’ve had to minimize water changes to prevent Dino’s bc my skimmer is way oversized and strips the water of nutrients I need to jus say screw it and buy a diff skimmer

So for $300 bucks I can't do anything about an issue, so basically the same thing my $18 nanny cam does for me since it's wi-fi and battery controlled.
