I really enjoy your videos. I made around 15 jumps back in the day (early 1970s), at a jump zone in Kissimmee and several at Deland. I have at least one more jump on my bucket list which, since I'll be 75 in November, I better get to work on. Hope to meet you one day at the Deland DZ. Keep up the good work.

When I started, we "rented" the DZ equipment 1976. I managed to save up enough for a used rig (pack and belly chute), with 28' Double L and reserve. for $200; then moved up slowly, and found a used PC ($150), in-turn a new pigback rig and 26 LoPo ($400); and finally a Starlite ($333), jumpsuit was a balloon suit and a hockey helmet.

Great video. A few points on sizing. New containers are sized to the height and weight of the first user, so if buying used, you want to buy one that matches your size. And containers are also sized to parachute sizes. Beginners should be on lightly loaded (big) parachutes (both main and reserve), so you want a container suitable for a larger parachute and reserve. Your instructor or rigger can give advice on good starting sizes for main and reserve, and that can then be used to pick an appropriate container.

Hey there Salvador! I'm a new jumper only 45 jumps total so far but I already know jumping will be something I do for life. I was wondering if you would you be willing to make a video explaining containers and canopy sizing? So, for instance, how many canopy sizes can one container accommodate? And what are the container sizes, are they standardized across brands or brand specific? For me this is the most complicated aspect of trying to find new gear to buy. Thank you in advance, stay safe and keep up the great content!

ADD Cypress or Vigil. Personally I like the Vigil better due to the battery considerations alone. Not to mention the life of the cypress 2 is 12 years vs the cypress 2 is 20 years. And the cypress 2 has mandatory maintenance at 4 and 8 years @$300 each time. It could very well go up in 4-8 years. Vigil 2 is cheaper too.

I'm an AFF student and I definitely plan to buy used. My instructors suggested we may want to purchase between 50-150 jumps to keep cost down. shit gets expensive. Good looking out on getting a rigger to check it. The DZ i'm at suggested vetting the person since the community is large but small and you can find someone (or friend of a friend) to vouch for the seller. It's our lives on the line so we definitely don't want to dick around with it. Can you go into the cost/regular maintenance with having your own rig?

Question around safety, completely ignorant question. How safe is skydiving? I started my pilots license, and have gotten pretty close to finishing up, but had an in flight emergency that shook me up pretty good, thankfully everything worked out. But still love the sky, but maybe experience it in a different manner. I have done a tandem dive, and it was freaking amazing, and have always wondered about general safety. Thanks!

I'm jumping a rental sabre 3 170, looking at rigs now and was wondering if I should get the canopy separate from the container so I could buy a container that is better suited to downsize from the 170 id be using, cause soon I'm planning on going onto a 140.
@SalvadorChangg
@SalvadorChangg 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on how many jumps you have on the 170, your landings, and your wing loading. I would suggest buying a container that fits a 170/ 150 max this way you can downsize and still keep the same container but at the end of the day it’s your choice.

Hey Salvador! I just did my first tandem jump on Saturday. I was just wondering if something like a double malfunction on your main and reserve parachute is something I should worry about. I was thinking of getting into this and starting my AFF courses. Based on your experience, have you ever had a bad parachute malfunction and had to use your reserve? Also how many jumps have you done?

Hey Salvador, I just recently started getting into skydiving, and right now, I'm only doing the tandem jumps. I really do want to complete an AFF program and get my A license. I do enjoy watching your videos and I remember previously watching a video you made on the safety of skydiving. But would you say "learning": to skydive is pretty dangerous? I've been watching some videos on flaring during landing and that's the part that makes me the most nervous because I'm afraid I may flare too early or too late. Skydiving fatalities are pretty rare but I don't know what the statistics show in terms of safe it is while they're going through the process of learning and figuring everything out. I really don't want to injure myself during the process and I'm hoping to get information on how to ease my way into this sport and do whatever I can to prioritize safety over having fun.
@SalvadorChangg
@SalvadorChangg 5 ай бұрын
It’s as safe as you make it. But over all speaking it’s pretty safe. If flaring is your worries talk to as many people about it who are experienced and get their advice on it. Practice and prepare but Don’t over think it

but isn't it more "safer" buying a brand new rig than a used one that might have some fault or damage to it already that both party might not be aware of? like buying new vs old car. I mean if money isn't a issue I'd say buy new stuff.
