Exploring a local legend of a local salvage yard. Rumor is he hoarded more parts than he sold! I came across the auction online and bid on a few vehicles including a World War 2 Ford CMP Gen Pole Crane truck.

Beautiful, completely restored, then you can participate in the D-day and Market Garden Commemorations of 2024. Good that you saved this one from demolition!

I thought the Ford CMP's all had V 8 flathead, the Chevs had 6 cylinders like this one.

Nice Ford! Looks like a F15A (Ford, 15CWT, 4x4) It looks like that there are still one or two data plates on the dash (not very visible in the video though), so there could be some info on there. Unlike the US Jeep (made by Willys and Ford) most, if not all, Chev and Ford CMP parts are not interchangeable. Ford CMP's came with a flathead V8, while the Chevrolet's came with a 216cu 6 cil engine, so the engine in yours is a post-war swap. More mods were done. See drivers chair and door for example (not to mention the whole back body was replaced)

Thanks for the info Marty! I haven’t tried to get any number of the data plates, but yes they are very worn. I thought the modern 6 would be a plus, but it’s still stuck, so, may make easier for a swap. unfortunately they crudely made it fit in there.. Thanks for the comment man!

Definitely WW2 ford blitz truck with a postwar engine swap. I see the wheel hub is Canadian. So this one definitely built by Canadian. A lot of these were built in Australia in ford and chev but has a round bearing hub. The Canadian has a flat bearing hub. They built this in 1942 till 1945 for military in WW2. A lot of them got sold to fire service and converted them to fire trucks and later in 20 years a lot of them were converted to crane truck.

You subscribed to my channel for reasons that I'm not sure, I don't post much of anything except KZbin screwin me over and some music, but you've got a very cool channel. I'm glad I'm not the only one out there still trying to save the old iron. I ain't got the biggest collection, but I've got a '67 F100 with a 300 and a 4pd, and a '63 Chevy C10. Had a '59 F350 but I wound up selling it. At one point or another I've had anywhere from 8 to 12 vehicles at one point. But I'm moving half away across the country and downsized a great deal from what I had.

Honestly man, Im trying to get my channel off the ground, so sometimes i randomly subscribe to people. I appreciate the compliment man! I like the sounds of the 63 C10, last of the knee knocked wrap around windshield. Sucks to downsize, but it happens!

Though, I'd be highly interested to know if there are any '68 Firebirds in that lot haha. Or '66-67 GTO. Or any '73-'77/'78-79 Ford pickups. I've got a list of cars to aquire one day, and I do much the same, go around old junkyards, old collection's of cars out in barns and fields and try to find cars and trucks that are still worth saving and bringing home Edit, 10:11 That answers the Ford truck question 😂

No much for muscle cars left there, but a few trucks. Very very rusty, almost everything there! which is too bad. That’s cool, it’s always been a hobby of mine, scavenging & exploring!
