Salvaging an ABANDONED Car That's Never Been Cleaned! | The Detail Geek
This car was ABANDONED for years and had NEVER been cleaned! A mouse infestation wreaked havoc on the interior and it was one of the grossest vehicles I've ever seen!

I have asked/posted that question on numerous videos ..... always without getting an answer. I have also asked if he has ever taken out/removed the carpet from a vehicle to clean the carpet, remove to clean or replace the padding under the carpet, and clean and sanitize the floor pan. This vehicle qualified for those extra steps. Also, with the habitation and toileting of the mice, the vehicle needed more than the cabin air filter being changed out (actually, should be done with any of those especially dirty, dusty, filthy cars, otherwise if not done, the first time the air is turned on, they driver will be blowing dust into the car .... who needs that after paying big bucks to get your car cleaned). The venting running under the floor and through the door panels need to be clean and sanitized as well. I had to have my car interior detailed (the detailer actually said, "Ma'am, this is a restoration job." I had a glass jug of root beer break which flooded the floor of my car ..... just the one side because of the hump, but still. (1999 Honda CRV) So, while he was at he did the entirety of the floor, removing the carpet to clean it, replaced the padding, cleaned and put a sealer on the floor pan (not that it was rusting, but was part of the package), and he cleaned the floor venting because the root beer had run down in the air vent. When he got done, the interior looked better than when I bought the car.

Amazing job! Do you do anything special to clear the stinch from the air vents? I saw someone online spray lysol spray down in them. Won’t do that in my car. Just figured this one’s vents stank to high heaven. I think you should start a new side gig and replace carpet in cars. Seems like that would be easier than scrubbing stuff like this one!

Yeah, can you imagine breathing in Lysol for the rest of the time you own that car. It's not good to breathe that in.

Very freakn satisfying to watch...amazing work. Impressed at the before and after. Amazing what some TLC can do. I know this is more than some TLC ..its many hrd of work and experiance and special tools etc but to go from what looks like a junker to beauty again is very satisfying and awesome to see. I take care of my 16 yr old car ..its looks great for how old it is. I havr had few details to keep up on it and could use anothet one soon. But its not as bad of course but love when it gets good detail.

What an absolute trash can on wheels. The carpets just looked like a pile of dirt. The transformations you make are always miraculous and look fantastic. Those carpets had an insane transformation and I’m sure the vehicles smelt really good after. Great job on the Traverse! Have a good spring weekend y’all!

I was wondering about that carpet. Since it was in such bad condition, do you know how much trouble it would be to replace it? After you have all the seats and trim removed, how much more work would it be to rip it out and replace it with new? Provided you could get either new or at least used in much better condition, possibly from a wrecked or salvage vehicle of the same model. Seems like that would be something the new owner would want to do, if it's possible.

Overall carpet isn't the worst thing to remove and reinstall, it's mostly just time. It does take some patience with a heat gun due to glue on the edges. i think it took me around 1.5 hrs to remove my carpet(rusty seat mounts took way to long).

I'm curious! When it came to cars with horrible smells in the past, you often would go to ozone treatment to neutralize odors like for smoking- but lately I haven't seen you do so? Is there a reason you changed the routine for treating vehicles with smells like that?
