Im in the process of lagering a bavarian dunkel. I found a couple of these in my fridge and figured I'd give one a try. It tasted verryyy similar to mine as well as the beer I tried in southern Germany. No naste foot notes, and all you can smell is malt and a little hopp vibe. Same with taste, just taste the malt and a mild hopp vibe at the end. It does have a crisp bite on the tongue and is a good medium mouthfeeling beer. I really enjoyed it, and anybody who likes german lagers wouldn't mind this at all.

I'll have to try this one again. I remember liking it. I thought the same thing the other day about sam adams. Their beers lately have been unremarkable. Even if I tried two distinct flavors they tasted the same. Then I tried the revamped boston lager and loved it. Thought the old one was just "alright." Glad they're trying to change things up.

From Martinsville Indiana. Love your cheap beer reviews. One of my fave cheap American adjunct beer is Strohs. Mayde you can find it in your local store and review. It's better than Coors, Miller HL, Hamms, and PBR in my opinion. On parr with Michelob lager.

I like it, but I think it did used to taste better than it does now. The Shiner Holiday cheer does have a better taste to it for the holidays. It’s also to bad about anchor steam. That was a good brew. From North Texas

Just tried one of these and im in iowa too lol it tastes like a german lager. Very good beer and worth trying. Not quite as good as an actual dunkel or bock but no complaints at all.

Sam Adam's use to kill it with flavor on their varieties but I don't get excited for anything now. Very underwhelming tastes over the last couple years. Not sure if they're cutting corners or what.

I enjoy this beer. This is one of those ((in fairness almost any beer except American Adjunct Lagers)) brews you gotta let warm up about 10 or 15 minutes. The malt and cinnamon come through much more. The ginger is super faint, to the point it's hit or miss if I even taste it. Cheers!

These are really good. My family and my homies all like them to clarify we had Abita's Christmas ale and this but all but one of us liked the winter lager. Great winter beer which I'm surprised by cause normally sam Adams Boston lager is heavy on my stomach but personally I think this beer is amazing🤙🏻

Sam Adams has lost their way. Boston Beer used to brew some really great beers (i.e. Noble Pils and Cream Stout). No more… I have never liked the Winter Lager. The Old Fezziwig is interesting.
