I cannot BELIEVE that I didn't see it before! Am I just blind to all this kinda stuff, but that being said, now that I see it, I can't unsee it. This would have been a much more organic pairing than Dansen. I will admit that at first I really really likes Sanvers, but the more I watch them together, the more I realised that Alex was more there for Maggie than Maggie was there for Alex. Alex nursed Maggie's old wounds like a mother would but when it came to Alex, Maggie just couldn't empathise with Alex, first she took it too personally when Alex messed up the first time, then she was stand offish about the wedding, and then she was unapologetically disinterested in the issue about Alex wanting kids. I see now, that although Maggie fit the purpose of Alex's first girlfriend, it also naturally sifted out al the creeses in the relationship, in order to improve the next one Alex had. Also, along side the fact that Floriana was essentially the reason they broke up Sanvers, having that first break up opened up the possibilities, Alex had to go through real romantic heart break.......and so on . I could got on for a while detailing whyit was good that Sanvers wasn't endgame.

Only barrier is Sam had never been gay her whole entire life. Same example that Lena and Kara had never been gay throughout the whole episode. Difference is Sam and Alex is only shipped as couples but never been an official couples. Same example of Lena and Kara being shipped as couples even if both never been couples. Sam may be a single mother however, there is no sign of Sam showing attractions to any women. Being a single mother would not automatically guarantee for any single mother choosing a path to be a lesbian. Sam is only comfortable being straight her whole life because she did after all get pregnant and only a man can turn Sam pregnant.
