Sam Altman is fired from OpenAI. What's next?

What caused OpenAI's board to fire super-star CEO Sam Altman, and what's next for OpenAI and the AI industry? My opinion.

Weird, large Investors often get at least 1 seat on the board. That would have given MS at least an ear in the room?

Yup, exactly. Since OpenAI has been started as a non-profit, the people on the board don't have a equity, and the investors don't have a seat in the room, not even a observer seat. Microsoft is now pushing to have at least an observer seat on the board. That OpenAI board is super unique!

I also find it interesting that there's no non-compete for Sam Altman - he just goes now from OpenAI to Microsoft, with all the secrets/knowledge from OpenAI, and that's OK. I guess since anyway it was supposed to be a research organization, and they weren't supposed to have any "trade secrets".

Good they kicked him. He was the one who maded ChatGPT focused on "security" etc. which made chatgpt less useful for making code and programs that try to fix video games etc.
