Everyone forgets that Vlade also let Tatum get away. The Kings had the third pick but Vlade gave up a pick swap in the Hinkie heist. All of Vlade’s first round picks are busts. The only pick he got right was Fox. A broken clock is right twice a day.

Vlade was the worst. But in this case he Mr Magoo'd himself into the best possible outcome. Remember Boston had their sights on Tatum all along. If the pick swap never happened, Boston would have either conned Vlade into making the same trade Phily did (thereby losing us a pick the following year), or stayed at # 1 and drafted Tatum there. Either way, we would likely have ended up with Fultz instead of Fox. Unless you think Vlade would have been smart enough to draft Fox over Fultz at # 3. Long story short, there's no way we would have gotten Tatum, pick swap or no.
