Training from a video is good to a certain point. Some balintawak system you can easily teach yourself and get the basic of striking. Like in all combative arts including FMA you will need a partner / instructor to teach you the timing, the coordination, distant, the power, and the adjustments you need to be able to defeat a better and skilled opponent. Very much like the science of boxing. Anyone can do a jab and cross, but it takes proper training to be a Mohammed Ali, Mike Tyson, or Manny Pacquio.

There is nothing that will hold you back from using what you want to use. FMA practitioners often use rattan because of its qualities. Bamboo tends to be thicker and hallow at the center. rattan has strands of fiber similar to fiber optic. These strands run parallel with each other. if the strands break on the outside, there is still strands that are in place. The human muscle is built very similar containing of fibers that run the same way. which gives it flexibility and strength.. Hope this helps, train safe and train well.

Kumusta ka na Sam po? Ito ay isang galak na sa wakas makita mong magturo. Gusto ko ang iyong istilo ng pagtuturo pati na rin ang Buot Estilo ng Eskrima. Inaasahan kong makita ang higit pa sa iyo sa hinaharap.

I agree with you, human nature when it becomes complacent to good food it wants more and more of it. As we age the body is no longer an efficient calorie burning machine or the human does not want to make adjustments which adds the pounds, and increase you chances of other ailments such as hypertension and diabetes. Moderation goes a long way then abundance.
