This is a re-upload of another video. The main reason did this was for editing regrets. Below, you'll find some of the original comments from the old video. Also, yes, I am aware there are two locations left. Want more Post-Mortar? Here's the playlist: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqjLq3xvrN6dY6M Thanks for watching! One of the greatest and most enjoyable jobs I ever had was as an Asst. Manager at Sam Goody's in the '90s. It was like Christmas every Tuesday on new release day. Time and technology steamroll ahead ....but oh, what good times we had. Goody really did have it.

There are 2 Sam Goodys that are still open in the U.S. but, they are run essentially as fye stores but carry the name. One is at the Ohio Valley Mall in Ohio and the other is at Rogue Valley in Oregon.

I,live in Detroit,Michigan. I still remember the following record stores and they were: 1. Harmony House which went out of business. 2. MusicLand which went out of business. 3. FYE which went out of business. 4. Sam Goody which closed the stores permanently. I miss the record stores from the past.

My go to Music Store as a kid in the 80s. Bought my Sony Walkman there as well. Everything we loved growing up seems to leave. Miss that Store.

If you enjoyed shopping at all the locations mentioned in the short, Imagine what it was like working there! Absolutely amazing. I worked for all of them in the 90s & 00s.

Just discovered Sam Goody, and then your channel, today and I could not be happier! I LOVE defunct retail artifacts and to find such a quality channel covering them is so rare! I think it's worth preserving the memory of physical stores, and you are doing some great work! Your sense of design is so strong and I love the way your channel looks too! Excited to watch more!

Original comments below: *Kelevra:* Thank you for another amazing video! *Jason Mango:* I would go to the Sam Goody in the Gallery in Philadelphia all the time. It was weird since there was a Sam Goody and two doors down their was a Suncoast. *Whaaaaat?:* I worked for Tower Records on Beach Blvd in Anaheim California for about a year. Loved working there. Interestingly enough, it was next door to Circuit City, and both are now gone and the place is demolished. They did reopen the Tower Records on Sunset. *Justin Guglielmotti:* I still frequent one of the Sam Goodys left in the country in St Clairsville Ohio. *Peter Piotrowski:* Sam Goody had some unique merchandise. No one was selling these items. Case in point: They were selling Batman (1989) that I couldn't find anywhere else. Really enjoyed browsing thru the store. *Tire Tracks:* We had an OnCue store in my town that was part of the chain. In addition to music and movies, they also had books and a limited selection of PC software. *Jason Payne:* The quality of this video was fantastic. Nice job! *Omi:* In Puerto Rico I remember sam goody selling Anime and hentai. *GorditaBurrito:* I loved Sam Goody. I bought my entire Rurouni Kenshin books from Sam Goody, and still had the receipt for the last book right before they closed. in West Hollywood, which is the only one around except for the one in Tokyo. *Rocco Balog:* There’s still a Sam Goody at my local mall in St.Clairsville, Ohio. *cmdess:* You do incredible videos. I hope you get a lot more views. What carnage coming out of the business world! Very in-depth videos, I found your channel looking up service merchandise. :) *Nicki H:* I must say, this is a "Goody" video! *FallicIdol:* I miss them but let’s not pretend any mall music store had good prices *Jetman80pops:* Man what a great video. I miss Sam Goody and The Wiz. If they did with Goody what they did with FYE meaning update and adapt to changing times. Goody would still be around. *alejandromolinac:* Ha! Use to LOOOOOOOVE Sam Goody’s….. that’s where I discovered “collector action figures”….. IT WAS THE BEST…. *Melissa Murphey:* I managed two stores in Pittsburgh and worked at one in Underground Atlanta decades ago. *Underground Retail:* Another Video!!!

Kids today will never understand the cultural significance to the music store for teens in the past.

I wasn't alive to experience Sam Goody, but FYE is a middle-of-the-road store. Their physical media is overpriced and lacking in selection, and while they have a lot of good pop culture merchandise (like anime figures), they are more expensive than other stores. The only compliment I have for FYE (as a weeb) is that they sell Vocaloid music on CD.
@PostMortar2 күн бұрын
Toward the end, Sam Goody was basically just as middle of the road. The 2 stores left are just undercover FYE. Pre-80s, Sam Goody was pretty good.

Until they totally close the doors up completly, I will be glad to be able to shop regularily in one of the 2 stores left here in Ohio.

I thought there Media Play chain which was larger and more suburban was a better set-up. The expanded to books, movies, and cards. It all revolved around selection and the buyback agreements they would negotiate with distributors over those titles you'd only see one of but would drive 40% of people to come to your store.
@PostMortar20 күн бұрын
Absolutely. Media Play should still be around today. No competing with Walmart and the gang, though. Amazon too. I’m not so sure if they’d still be around today, but at least it should’ve been around longer.

Thank you very much! So glad you like it! Company Man covers some very interesting topics outside retail, which I like too.
