I have to go with season 5. There were 4 outstanding episodes that really did it for me. E501 - opened with Murtagh vowing to be by wee Jamie's side always, Jamie was breathtaking in his full Scottish regalia in the fiery cross scene, then coming full circle to release Murtagh from his vow. 504 - Jamie asking Claire if she wanted to keep wee bonny so they could raise a child together. 507 - when Murtagh dies and Jamie, unable to accept it, tells him "I take it back, you can't leave me"... one of Sam's finest acting scenes. 509 - when Jamie stops breathing from the snake bite and Claire brings him back to life had me in tears. & 512 - when Claire tells Jamie not to worry about her, then lists everything she has survived in her life, and says: this suppose to shatter me? - Cait's amazing acting (after Faith).
