Oh Sam, I wish people had laughed with your speech as much as I did! Such a shame they didn't appreciate your jokes. But you conducted yourself very well and gracefully! Congrats on your doctorate!! :)

An absolutely amazing speech... so different and personal...spotted with funny remarks ( (few people noticed and reacted)...An undeniable proof that he himself has elaborated it and delivered it to the audience with so much genuine emotion. Sam Heughan a humanist....a personality encompassing all the traits of an open minded, charitable , frank, genuine person dedicated to his profession and to the welfare of the others and nature.. Sterling University should be proud of having had him as a student.

Graduation ceremonies are usually so solemn...as an academic I know that it can be quite tedious sitting through the entire ceremony and trying not to look bored. In any case, I love the speech and it was so sincere and well phrased. Sam is such a class act .. if only those folks will lighten up...

I was really rooting for Sam, wanting this to be a good speech...but it just wasn’t. Being someone who has achieved a graduate degree, I know what a grueling process the graduates in this audience just went through to be there. They had to make huge sacrifices, giving up other passions and loves (precious time spent with family, at least four years of their life, their own mental health, etc.) to sit in that seat on this day. When Sam admits he wrote this speech last night, it’s such a slap in the face. He’s being handed a degree for doing other difficult things but not the same difficult process these graduates went through. That is such an honor! Instead of accepting this with (at least outward) humility, he focuses on his time spent filming Outlander...Not really a time for personal marketing. I’m sure it’s hard being an actor and having to do speeches all the time. If he would have run this by his manager or someone (anyone who has earned a graduate degree), they would have told him to abort mission. Next time though! Still rooting for Sam!

This young actor just received an honorary degree. He is there to speak to the graduates of their future. Instead, he says he only wrote his comments "last night" showing he didn't really care much about the honor. He speaks of himself and tells jokes rather than speaking words of inspiration to the real graduates. He is a fine actor, but this recording makes me very sad. It is no wonder the people on the platform with him are dour. I'm sure they expected more. There have been many other actors who have been asked to speak at graduations who presented inspiration and challenges to the young people. Instead, Sam used the occasion to "toot his own horn" and joke around. Hmmmmmmmm

@@lorraineslade6048 Look at the other comments...the consensus with the people bothering to reply in the comments are nearly all positive and appreciative. ..I think the above comment is completely misguided, unrealistic and as lousy harsh...not many people could do better and I think the person who is being a bit damming is influenced by the poor response of the person behind himp

@SilkSpectre73 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness, is he aging naturally? The horror! (Irony may occur.) Besides, loads of sexy men are completely bald and most men in their 30s/40s lose their locks gradually. Even actors. Don't worry, Jamie's always going to have a lovely mob of hair.

Because of repeated colouring of his blond hair to turn into red headed Scots , he said in one interview, about falling off of his hair.

THAT is the least of his woes! Sam H. was just honored with a degree from Stirling University, Scotland. A proud moment to "type" the least ! He also spoke emmaculately , despite writing only the night before. His diction was seamless as well. His Mom would've definitely been proud, amongst many other moments !
