The Chinese have to memorize thousands of characters which slows down the ability to achieve true literacy. This also places an unnecessary cognitive load on its speaker. There is also a large amount of homophones, which makes articulating complex and technical details challenging. Because of this it makes writing technical documentation and programming software difficult since they rely on unambiguous language. Chinese speakers also lack the ability to think abstractly. Their language relies heavily on context to convey meaning. Which hinders the understanding of many important things such as laws, science and engineering.
@ikatehikes2 ай бұрын
Not to mention the characters themselves are formulae making their language restrictive to logical which stunts creativity.

The ISS is probably one of the most documented places on the planet, you can have virtual tours, sometimes you can talk with the astronauts on ham radio, they youtube from the station, they take part in university experiments, every nook and cranny of the station has publicly available documentation, etc. Meanwhile all you get from Tiangong is Xinhua sometimes releases a blurry, cropped and compressed photo on their news site. Most people probably don't even know Tiangong exists. TL;DR: the Chinese suck
@MemeMan_MEMESQUAD2 ай бұрын
Not much reaches the US because they don't care, but they regularly livestream to schools there. The station is Mir derived but somewhat updated. It's a testament to the 50 year decline in NASA more than the technical ability in China, but it isn't really arguable that their station is much more impressive than the ISS.
