As an England fan watching on TV back in the UK watching that Eng v Aus semi-final game, the instant I saw her get that ball I just thought: oh no, she is so going to score this (from all the way back there) BUT vs Mary Earps the world's best female goal keeper if she can't stop this goal then no one can.... Kerr runs up.... hits it..... and.... GOOAAALL! lol I didn't know how to feel I felt so disappointed and yet somehow extremely proud for her and the Matilda's and Australia, like what an absolute stunner of a goal!

it was David vs Goliath in terms of the amount of funding for women’s football with nations like Britain, Spain and USA. They’ve won the hearts of australia and leave a legacy of $200M for girls and women’s soccer at a grassroots to professional level. However, your next game is against the very organized Sweden Team with excellent discipline. They play a physical and aggressive style of soccer. We need to be extremely well-organized and play a fast-paced game (aiming to secure possession of the ball). It's crucial to dominate the center of the soccer field and control the ball in the middle of the park. In the last game against England, we played too softly and failed to generate enough shots on target. Australia has done well to get this far but in reality are still just a 6/10 team. They need to improve in the following areas ( in which I rate them at ~ 5/10 for each ) -- free kicks // throw-ins // attacking corners // opposing corners . My rating implies there is room for ( much ? ) improvement in these areas . In / on field play depends on many factors. #21 - Carpenter is a bit of a liability at right back ? She may be more useful ( for a half ) as one of the wingers where she may use her strength and speed to better use. : pressuring the defenders and tiring them out ? She does need to learn how to kick the ball better ::: She has not learnt over the last 10/15 years? , her coaches (then and now ) have not taught her how to kick a ball. How does one teach a 10yr old and up , to kick a ball ??????????? Polkin ___ has been a bit of a liability ??? What did Australia do wrong against England? - it was obvious to see if you have watched Australia thru the tournament. Was Kerr’s goal deflected in ?? - must be my eyes , the commentators did not mention that ? Regardless , Australia have had a dream run this time … but how would they stack up against Spain, Japan, Germany …....

Competition has always been about exploring how to win without breaking any rules. That is just strategy. Nice is always nice but that is not sport, I'm sure everyone/most people would agree that dirty is more exciting.... and so more profitable. As clearly experienced by the most recent mens England vs Italy World Cup (or was it the Euro's?) when Italy easily played the most violent against England, yet as always England just takes it right up the back passage with a blatant respectful smile.
