I find it interesting that so many people think premier league soccer relegation is a new and exciting idea. This is a very old idea that does not work very well anymore in the modern economic era. There are new adaptations of the relegation concepts that work quite well in the modern economic era.

4 reasons why it won't happen...SEC & ESPN, and B10 & Fox

1 reason why it shouldn’t happen: it’s a great idea for ACC, and Big 12, and a lot of small schools. They need this super league. Not such a good idea for SEC/B10. They don’t need a super league.

To any fan that would want this to happen, you need to send a message with not watching any SEC or Big 10 game so those conferences and their media partners can see what will happen to their viewership if they leave all the smaller schools out!

Division nameSouthwest should be Western, Northwest, Central, Southwest, Northeast, Mideast & Southeast. Parity would be acheived as each team plays all others in their division and no more than 2 G5 teams. If your division moves 2 or 3 or even 4 teams up to the SED, you don't have to play them!!! Great games !!! Great money !!! Great future !!!

Relegation will happen but...there will be permanent power members and a relegation group. The conferences will remain separate but there will be a contract between conferences. The BIG12, for instance, might be interested in signing a deal with the Mountain west for 2 schools subject to relegation to play in the BIG12 each year with the shares for those 2 spots going to the MWC rather than directly to the schools. The conferences could work together on a dual conference network and in sports other than football relieving travel problems for both. The MWC would get a much watched relegation game BIG12 would add an entire conference for the cost of just 2 spots. It might not be the BIG12 and MWC but I can see some version of that happening because it is a win for everyone.
@frictionhitch
@frictionhitch Ай бұрын
Would the MWC(and PAC2) accept 2 spots and a guaranteed noncon game for every team? DUH Would the BIG12 accept all of those schools and their markets to include in a conference network for the price of just 2 and only the best of that year? I think so The Big 12 could add:Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah State, Washington State and Wyoming not only to it's potential conference network but also to it's voting block within the FBS. FOR THE COST OF 2 SPOTS it is a win win

@frictionhitch Ай бұрын
The entire Mountain West contract could be purchased by the BIG12 and the BIG12 could do relegation with it. The BIG12 would make money because the BIG12 would immediately increase the value of that contract.

The SEC was just dominate at the right time. 10 years earlier the Pac could’ve pulled the B12s 5 biggest schools and done the same thing. 18 years before that The big 8 could have grabbed more than what they did. A lot of the SECs dominance can just be attributed to one school ALABAMA being dominant for long enough that it raised to quality of the whole conference. They got lucky. It’s almost like different conferences have historically been more dominant at different times but the SEC just lucked into being that conference when every form of entertainment Is consolidating itself to make the most money possible. And who in the BIG has won anything but OSU and MICH in the last 30 years. Even those two take turns kinda being mid every couple years while the other is good.

To work, the 10 best teams have to become the Super Elite Division at 200 m/yr. The other 60 will get 60 m/yr. Teams can drop out of or rise into the SED by their play. Riser Division is the top 10 G5 teams making 30 m/yr. They can drop back into the existing G5 at 15 m/yr by their play. 8 divisions give us 8 auto bids & 8 at large in the CFP. The Biggest Prize would be the World College Football Championship as the winner of a 6 team playoff with 2 byes fr9m the Super Elite Division.

Brands in college football, what a stupid concept. College football doesn't have brands. College football is local and at best regional. No one really cares about other people schools.

It’s amazing how B1G/SEC, whose membership encompasses at least 70% of the total CFB fanbase, are expected to care about schools that’s that bring in pitifully small fan bases.

It’s 87% & rising. that is the actual number. That’s how they came up with % of payroll of teams in the SEC & Big 10 conferences. The ACC if they are smart they should restart their TV deal. The big 12 can’t fathom the fact & idea that they actually dropped in % they are now part of a group of 7 conferences. Without bigger teams that watched you to see where they stand. You have real & a very low %. I mean the big 12 is looking at trying to get fans to watch them by going to Mexico. That’s a dead giveaway of where the big 12 is heading.

Sankey is a villain…he’s not “worried” about the SEC like there’s some threat. He’s attempting to exclude other leagues to the detriment of the sport and college athletics as a whole.
@haroldflashman4687
@haroldflashman4687 Ай бұрын
Sankeys job is to do what’s best for his conference and its members. It’s not his job to play nice with other conferences. It’s not his job to agree to any deal that requires SEC to share money and exposure with other conferences.

@@haroldflashman4687 “Playing nice” with other conferences is good for cfb and the SEC. Anything to the contrary is short sighted cutting your nose to spite your face sort of nonsense. Sankey is trying to ruin march madness too. Why carry his water? Lol

@@jcp311 Sankey and Pettiti between them represent 34 schools that cover 75% - 80% of the total CFP fanbase. The sport will be just fine even if they cut out all remaining schools. That’s the thing that fans of small schools can’t understand. Their schools don’t matter. The only reason their schools were even able to field football teams at the highest level is because the big schools were willing to share their media riches.
@jcp311
@jcp311 Ай бұрын
@@haroldflashman4687 your numbers are suspect at best….but for the sake of argument you sound like you’ve got it all figured out. Why can’t they just do it? If the SEC and Big10 really can make all this cash by separating why haven’t they just done it already?
@haroldflashman4687
@haroldflashman4687 Ай бұрын
@@jcp311 the numbers come from 2 publicly available analyses. One by Navigate research, a consulting company that counts ESPN, Fox, CBS etc among its clients! So I wouldn’t discount those numbers. The main reason for SEC/B10 not to spilt off is because they don’t have have. They’re getting everything they want by remaining in the current system. Plus just threat that SEC/B10 will leave is enough to keep everyone else in line. The 80 team proposed super league will only happen if SEC/B10 can be convinced that their schools will make so much more money (relative to what they’re getting now) that’s it’s worth it for them to join the super league.
