Ok, so Sam Laidlaw broke the bike course record on this awesome bike and in the process of pushing his limits, cooked himself to the point he was no longer competitive in the race and finished 18th. IMO this is a hollow record.

Came here to say this. Completely agree. Pretty sure nobody purposefully enters Kona to break the bike record to later explode on the run. Still a nice bike though :D

its much more honest that someone coming from a poor swim, blowing past everyone to top 10 - this is lead off the swim, bike without motos, to a sub 4 at kona - cant argue that that was a balls to the wall bid to win...the course record is 20 minutes faster than frodeno records only 5 years ago - of course now there aer blow ups....record stands

thats amazing that with all the extra hardware its only 10kg. I guess the new iteration will have copper on the wind facing surface to connect inside the pads like a cooling sink.....then the next generation will have copper cooling fins to guide the wind flow. The pros are riding peak technology, the level of detial is amazing. I am also waiting for motorised straw to the frame bladder

I did IMCA with a disc and I have never seen winds anywhere close to that in Kona. So yes discs and end this nonsense.

Wow! So glad you did not talk price/cost as I am pretty sure my monkey brain could not compute. This is like the bike of a super spy or super villain for sure. Not sure if it is going to win or not though, but I would love to see you and Mark race it against one of your bargain/retro bikes (of course with Mark in pink tights or speedos). Only then can we know if it is really good or not :)

It's priceless because of all the custom-made components ;) But top-of-the line stock Canyon CFR costs around 11k USD, add 3-4k for all custom components and ceramic speed and there you have it.
