I know the writers like to retcon things and get hand-wavey, but why aren't there any consequences for the mark being "gone" during this episode? The mark was the stopgap keeping Amara from entering the Universe. When it was removed, she *immediately* flooded in, so why couldn't she enter here? Is the mark still "there," even if they can't see it? If it *is,* why isn't it affecting his teen body the way it affected his normal body?
