thanks for sharing... I can't wait to give it a try... This climbing method, combined with my minimalist saddle will weigh next to nothing, and allow me to climb, and hunt from almost any tree...

Great idea. I'll take a back up foot rope because it can slip down the tree. A climbing tree stand have a line that connects the chair to the platform and I had to reach for it a few times

Awesome idea. I tried something similar but I couldn't get it to work. I see you using that piece of wood. I think that would make the difference.

Is the same as using an ascender and a foot aider just more steps and worse equipment put some HD zip ties on your ropes with the tails sticking out to act as handles. It will allow you to flip your tethers up the tree a lot easier.

Disclaimer: this method takes some serious tweaking to be as versatile as I'd originally hoped. For one thing, tree diameter needs to be 20" or less. I also found it easier to take my feet off the foot board, raise the foot rope, then put my feet back on the foot board and stand up. It still works very well, but is not the answer for every hunting scenario.

Looks very similar to 2 tether method, where they use just on foot ,,I do have a problem with the one foot method cause of pressure spied to outside of foot,,you may have an alternative here

Hey, what saddle was that? Do you still use this method? If no, what do you use now?
@donovanstockton446 жыл бұрын
Good video! This is a great back up to when you just don't want to haul in bunch of climbing sticks. I'm wondering if you could just use rope? No wood needed if you used two loops for your feet. I would seem based on the principles used in your climbing method the whole concept is about alternating at different heights the pressure/elevation change. Very good cool concept

It depends on your boots. I originally tried without a foot board and found I didn't like the way the rope dug into my feet.

Have you tried adding carabiners to your tether ropes for quick disconnect to go around limbs?
@etworker5 жыл бұрын
I had the same thought as you and tried it. I found 2 major issues: 1) the carabiner tends to jam up so tight you can hardly unscrew the gate lock when you need it, and 2) the tether slides too easily within the carabiner, so when you move the tether up the tree it won’t stay in place without tension.

@@etworker Gotcha.......We have more trees with limbs in my world than without. Still excited to play with this climbing method for this season. I think it has great potential!
@jaymcwethy90264 жыл бұрын
This is a bit late response, but do not use carabiners for this purpose, it can lead to cross loading and damage/break the carabiner. Use a quick link

Hey Sam I'm curious do you still use this method if so how did you modify it to make it quieter? Perhaps a new video is in order!!! Thanks Tom. Cheers!
@etworker7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom- yes, I primarily used this method last season. I rounded the edges of the piece of wood on a belt sander, which reduced the noise a lot. With practice and taking your time, you can be very quiet while climbing. When I shot this video it was probably the 2nd or 3rd time doing it and I was more showing the mechanics of it rather than how I would do it in a hunting scenario.
@etworker7 жыл бұрын
P.S. I will try to put together a Part II video soon.
@TomSutts19697 жыл бұрын
That would be great, I've been saddleHunting for just over 10yrs now and altered my tethers with climbing rope,carabiner's & a couple wildman accenders!!! Always looking for lighter & quieter idea's currently using stackable sticks!!!

The saddle hunting world is full of shameless copycats. Glad I’m not trying to sell anything. I’m sure Tethrd has a full time patent lawyer.

Great method but I would sweat my butt off down here in Texas. Would rather carry my sticks
@etworker7 жыл бұрын
I've hunted a lot in the early season using this and found that if you do it properly, this method is very efficient and can be done without getting overheated. Way better than screwing in pegs as you go. I've never hunted with sticks, so I can't compare.
