Just like Die Another Day capitalised on the success of the xxx movies at the time. Heavy on action and extreme sports. The key to the success is adaptation. But then again my favourite Bond movies are the ones closest to the books

As a big Bond fan I fucking love this! The intro is amazing and 100% Bond movie material. I can respect people's opinions on the song but I struggle to understand why they say it's a mismatch. It doesn't have to be "macho" to be a Bond theme, it just has to represent at least a part of the story or any small thing in the film. I mean, compare it to Die Another Day? I liked that song when I was younger but if any theme was a mismatch, it was definitely that one.

I think you can only judge this song and say it doesn't fit with the latest film after Spectre actually comes out. I'm feeling it's going to be darker than the other Craig movies hence the theme being much slower and more emotional

But the reason Adele's Song works and this doesn't is because - like Bassey, Sinatra, Sheena Easton, Tom Jones, McCartney.... even Duran Duran, her song had stirring depth. Their songs were sexy and dangerous sounding. This is whiney and uninspired. Like I say, he's clearly talented; but like Madonna's horrible effort it doesn't make people think 'James Bond!' Wow, I wouldn't agree at all - although it is nice to see you have seen all the Bond movies, and you're not someone who's seen like, 5. When you said Quantum I immediately though you weren't a 'proper' fan (although 'proper fan' sound ridiculous, sorry) I rate Goldfinger, TMWTGG, and Quantum quiet lowly. Goldfinger, while iconic, isn't as as fantastic as people make it out to be imo. The guards simply falling down as they do, Pussy Galore simply becoming good from almost nothing for almost no reason, the fact not one person checks on the guards, and a few other minor things are why I rate it as only the forth best Connery film, never-mind all-time. TMWTGG has Mary Goodnight who has got to be the worst Bond girl, bumping switches with her arse, getting hopelessly pushed into the boot of the car etc. She really ruins the film for me. Quantum I find has awful CGI (for example at the start when he goes through the glass) and I HATE the editing. I find way to fast and that half the time, or at least on my first few viewings, I can't tell what's going on/which person's Bond, and so on. Spectre was okay, but I'd put it as the 3rd best Craig. I LOVED the mentions to old films The links to the films since Casino (the DB5, Quantum, the old villains, women in Bond's life who'd died, Mr White etc), and the very old films (Blofeld's cat, his scar from You Only Live Twice, his weird coat - whatever the name for it is - , Spectre being back) and stuff like The Hildebrand Rarity being mentioned (the safehouse had a name like it). But I though they threw away a great character in the hench-man Mr Hink, who is not named, nor is his side-by-side relvolver shown really, nor is his metallically tipped fingernails shown. I though Bond taking down a helicopter with a pistal was too superhero like, I didn't like Blofled looked panicked, or the fact he was caught - he should always be calm and collected with an escape route, the way he was in the old films. There were other thing as well, both making it good and bad. I will say though all Bond films have good bits, I'm always happy to watch any one, and that I think the rest of you're list is fine. How old are you by the way?

Tom Rice I'd also say Skyfall wasn't quite Bond enough, and it was more of a set up film, and that while Craig is undeniably great, Connery was as serious, but was also funnier. As for action, you're right, Craig is the best.
