That is my grand dad right there. He was making gospel and blues and putting out a solo album around this time so he had a lot of music in his head and he hadn't played this song in a while so he messed few parts up a little but he and the band did great. He didn't play guitar in the band when they originally recorded this song. He played keyboard and sang in the pharaohs.

Who cares about the screw ups??? He’s the original singer of that song and as the original singer he has all the right and privilege to sing it however he likes! Don’t miss the point here... They’re jamming their heart out to a classic hit!!! The crowd loved it, the band loved it & Sam The Sham Rocked it!!! That’s all that matters...

Anybody remember what "L-7" means ? Hold the left hand like a pistol (thumb out, pointer finger and middle finger extended), and then do the same with the right hand, and hold the right hand upside down. Put the two hands together, and what does that spell ? Look at the outline of the thumbs, pointer fingers, and middle fingers together, and you have an outline of what ? A sort of rectangle, or a 'Square' ! A 'Square' in the 1960's and early 1970's meant someone who was a stupid person, a nerd, an 'un-cool' non-drug taker or non- hippie, or a 'Narc' (Undercover narcotics agent.) Too much information ? Well, people were on a lot of drugs, and pretty f*cked up in those days... This has been a public service announcement....

Don’t be L7 means don’t be square. You have to imagine the 7 as an upside down L and put them together = a square. Square meant uncool a million years ago.
