Ridley Scott went all the way to the deepest corners of the Middle East to get a musician who played instruments that were centuries old to get those sounds that made the film Gladiator one of the greatest films in history. These sounds are what made Gladiator an absolute masterpiece! Beautiful!

Love the soundtrack in Gladiator. I also draw a lot of inspiration from Hans Zimmer's work on Dune (and any other movie he's been a part of).

@@culturecapitalmusic Great Choices! Interstellar is one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. Ridley Scott had issues with the producers when he brought up the type of music for Gladiator because to the producers it was a macho film and it was supposed have explosive rock music like an average Hollywood film with explosives. Once he played the film for them with Dead Can Dance’s Lisa Gerard singing along the beautiful sounds of the centuries old Middle Eastern instruments, they were at Awe. After that it was a wrap!

Egypt has been really very special to me since I was a child. I have also travelled through Egypt for 2 years, and the people are amazing. I love the music i . I went on 3 more holidays to Egypt. The people are special I love all races of people since I was at school. i got on with children from different countries and made friends . All I hope for is peace in the world. I went on many peace, not war marches, in the late 60s. I feel so relaxed listening to this music is good for the mind, body, and spirit. 😊Thank you. Does this "song" have words which can be translated or are we listening to a collection of "sounds" which may translate to moods, etc better than specific words or language. Either way, as I mentioned above, I am drawn to this and similar musical pieces. Sometimes vocals are associated, sometimes not. The unique aspect is that any vocals are unknown to me. They influence my thoughts essentially the same as the instrumental sounds. They are the same. My mind and my thoughts are influenced by sounds with only the most basic suggestion. My mind is free to wonder and to wander of it's own volition. The results are amazing.
