KARACHI: May 22 marks the fourth anniversary of the PIA plane crash into a residential area just a kilometre away from the runway of Karachi Airport, killing 97 people and injuring two others.
A BBC report has recalled the details of the inquiry report, highlighting the flight pilots’, especially captain’s, reckless actions flouting the safety protocols and ignoring air traffic controller’s cautions. In February this year, an investigation into the air disaster by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Board (AAIB) determined the crash occurred due to human error. However, relatives of many deceased passengers were not satisfied with these findings. On Friday, May 22, 2020, the ill-fated PIA flight PK 8303, with 91 passengers and eight crew members onboard, took off from Lahore Airport at 1:10pm for Karachi.
The Airbus A320 aircraft attempted to land at Karachi Airport at 2:37 pm, but due to a rough landing, the captain attempted a go-around. However, the plane could not complete the second landing attempt and crashed into the densely populated neighbourhood of Jinnah Garden.
The AAIB report, available on the Aviation Ministry’s website, stated the crash occurred because both engines of the plane shut down due to human error. The report also indicated multiple failures and miscommunications.

Its not captain choice at all life of so many ppl is I'n the hands of pilot and he must have followed instructions of tower instead of his insane physo path and fragile choices. It only happens in pakistan because most of pilots had/have fake licenses and this so called instructor weakly trying to justify brutal negligence of pilots who was real culprit so in Pakistan paid life of human doesn't worth becuae of deep rooted corruption

Extremely misleading and ignorant analysis of the guest pilot. I fail to understand if it is deliberate? No landing gear emergency was declared. The plane touched the runway without the gear down and locked.... And extremely funny is the guest pilot said .... He didn't read the report..... O... My ....

With all due respect..it's always reported in the crash investigation report that the mistake was committed by the pilot. Stop putting all the Blame On The Pilot who died himself. A person who is on the position of pilot and caring hundreds of people's life responsibility on his shoulder how you can put the Blame On The Pilot. Way it's always pilot found mistaken on the plane crash investigations report because the airline companies they want to protect their business by showing that their plane was extremely fit to fly and it was a mistake of a pilot causes the crash. By doing this flying companies they claim their accident Insurance claim and they ensure that they are coming flight passenger will not be get affected due to their unfit flying planes

Very pathetic explanation, landing on one gear theory and go around mechanism. I suggest this guest needs to study Air Crash Investigations and see how safest engineered aircrafts are crashed by miss-calculations and pilot aircraft handling approaches. Keep in mind there was no emergency declared in this flight and one of the most soft regualtion flight ended taking hundred of lives. Also he needs to see full report where pilots ignored all cockpit warnings and keep kicking in to runway to claim an adventures landing venture. Should the guest has consulted voice recorder script and blackbox flight management data. Very disapointing non professional podcast based on aerodynamics of small vs large aircrafts and not discussing the piloting factors of sequenced multiple mistakes of this very tragic flight.
