Sadly, you get a lot of tidal basura (rubbish) being washed in along many beaches in Samal as it sits in a gulf. You are also correct, the attention to detail has a lot of room for improvement at many resorts. That said, there are some nice hidden gems in Samal, you just have to explore. I am interested to see if you make it over to Mati / Dahican beach one day.

hi Alan, we live on Samal actually next to the place where you ate your curry (winters). That room you paid 13,000 for was a real rip off and not according to normal Samal standards. In Winters where you ate they have decent rooms for 1,200 a night with breakfast. so three rooms would cost you 3,600 and you could still venture around the island and day tour. hope you get a better impression next time. (alloro beach normally gets cleaned. I guess you were there just after high tide since the tide does bring all that rubbish in)

Alan I suggest before booking the hotel is to check the accommodation. But that is a rip off for filipino standard! I guess there isn't much accommodation option, hence they can rake the prices up. Anyway love the vids on the beaches, carry on with the vids mate. Paalam :)

Im an ex smoker alan and i never got the whole taking them off display. When you buy a packet the shop keeper has to open the cabinet to get them out, then they are back on display again, no weaver fish out there then alan. You have to be careful going bare foot in the sea in england becaue of the weaver fish and razor clams

yes I smoked too, I stopped because I knew my health was going down hill but tbh I kinda like the cigarettes on display. if someone wants to smoke all the health warnings and hiding them away will not stop that person

🤣if there were any real dangers in these waters you would not be allowed to go in...bad for tourism, I think the last shark attack in the philippines was over 6 years ago so pretty confident but I don't go out too far 🤣

I mentioned my Mondeo mark 5 the stop start wasn't working it does work now after I coded in new battery by flashing lights 5 times and brake pedal 5 times has since worked that is cleared up

Good to se you all had lifejacket's. Yes, that beach was pretty awful for a resort. How long do you get for 13,000 Pesos? About £320 ? If two nights I suppose it is Ok if there are six of you but you need to be friendly! You don't need a shower with that rain.

that was for 2 nights and around £270 so fleeced well and truly but still a nice island and a overall good experience ☺️

There is no hose where you drain water off the air conditioner. The ac system is under high pressure and should only be touched by a professional.

You plunker! Samal Island has it’s natural beauty and only recently there was a typhon passing by Philippines. It’s understandable that there will be natural debris on the shore. Also, you are staying in the cheapest possible resort which the owner doesn’t prioritise cleaning the beach are further down their property. There are many beautiful well maintained resorts in Samal, if you you are not skint with your budget. Window leakers!

certain restaurants only serve common filipino dishes which are not really my liking, although ok but its the fact that its cooked in big pots early in the morning and if not sold the same food is sitting in the pots all day long until it is all sold
