This reading is dedicated to Mary from Canada (and to all who are alone). May you feel connected to the Divine whole dear Mary and may your inner peace, faith and trust flower even in the darkest and loneliest of times. Sending you much love and all blessings. 💚💜💛💙🧡 This is a revamped version of the earlier recording for improved audio quality.

Reading these comments and feeling this closeness to you all. Yogananda said his real family were those who loved God with all their heart. Needless to say perhaps that it is impossible to be alone? Our spirit guides(s) are here from birth, masters and teachers abide in wait for our call and angels flow in thi😅s divine field of infinite love and grace. Praise God they also like quiet ! So it is. And do all is well. Blessings for all!

I've been in solitude as a hermit for 21 months... after losing my wife of 32 years, my business, and family during Covid. I have no friends or family. it's all part of my spiritual journey. I feel like I died two years ago, but my body still walks around this earth. I'm not happy. I'm not sad.... I simply AM. My contemplative practices envelops my entire life now. This meditation causes happy tears to flow down my face 🤍🕊️🤍🕊️🤍🕊️

Solitude has been at center of my life. When I was a child I thought something was wrong with me. If I had known how to use it then maybe I wouldn't have struggled as I got older. Thank you God.

Have loved Merton since a Catholic cathecism teacher told a young, rebellious, 14 year old to do a book report on a Merton biography. He spoke to me then, and he continues to do so 50 years later.

When I was a child in Scotland, I had a secret place at the end of high cliff in the tall grasses and I would sing to God" All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small" the Lord God loves them all. I liked being alone and now because I have come to know of you,I realize I have never really been alone. 🙏💜

This is absolutely beautiful. From a very early age I craved solitude, wanted and needed nothing more. Parents, family, peers and schooling did their very best to dissuade me of this need with ridicule, humiliation and eventually violence, They never quite succeeded with their "conditioning" creating instead an angry depressed automaton that struggled for half a century. 5 years ago I had a vague premonition that the insanity that has gripped society for the last 12 months was on the horizon so I moved "off grid" into total isolation and solitude. Self sufficient and independent I've never been happier and at peace. Oh, I care about society and the ills they've brought upon themselves, just from a distance. My solitude is so valuable I've gone to extreme lengths to preserve it.

I love solitude too, but presumably, one has to have saved up a certain amount of money in order to 'move off grid' and become fully self sufficient?

Totally totally relate to every word of this. I had to "earn"/undergird the capacity solitude by having none at all thru caregiving years, work & no guilt-free boundaries, but complete exhaustion, desperation for contemplative space, & a surreal divine open door to saving a forest/field & living in it, last house on a dirt road in mountains, threw me in pure amazed disbelief into my lifelong dream of quiet space in nature, vast room for my lifelong tree nursery habit, & a life totally restoring wildlife habitat & diversity & catching up with the divine. Everyone wants to come visit. Nobody seems to understand anyone LOVING alone time.

Also, i don't see "society" as a "they." We all have part in it & can help earth & all beings. Last chapter of A Christmas Carol is my kind of role model.

This is a nice meditation video. I found myself feeling as though I was in the different places and frames of mind that he wrote about. The pace of it let me find myself in these places and then hear the next words from these places. I think sin is very much the same as competition and the wages of competition are death because our actions are entirely predictable based on the world around us like when baking soda is in vinegar or when a couple of alpha males are in the presence of a damsel in "distress". We are exactly equal in the Spirit which is the only thing that is real. Everything else is an appearance of what is conceived in imagination. What is real is always the same. The infinite is found in the one by all the ways it can imagine itself to be different. A new puzzle put together in every moment with a gazillion different pieces give or take a bazillion. 🙏

Hey Jayasara - very greatful for the precious teachings you make so easy and comfortable to digest. Thank you very much. I am wondering though, would you consider making a profile on spotify (or have someone do that for you) and upload to that platform as well, as a kind of podcast. For many of us, it is much easier to listen to these teachings while walking, working etc through the spotify app. You would reach a wider audience as well. I hope this sounds interesting to you.

it struck me, to shower praise upon the divine is itself an imposition in that it supposes the divine requires our supplication, suffers a lack, i guess we do it, when we do, merely to express an out flowing of gratitude

Dear Listener, this recording has some copyrighted music in the video so YT plays ADS to collect revenue for the record company. I have no control over the ads that appear as it is all KZbin placing ads for the music companies as I used copyrighted material in this old recording. My channel is not monetized so I make no money from them or the ads that appear. I try not to use copyrighted music anymore. If you purchase a KZbin premium subscription you can avoid ads. The responsibility is all on your end.

I am paraphrasing a bit here but I heard something to this effect.. "There can be contemplation only when there is silence.. " could someone elaborate a bit more what this means 🙏🏼🤔 I shall listen to this one again.. not sure if I caught the overall message rite :) summaries are welcome
@SamaneriJayasara3 жыл бұрын
Hi Uma, it is actually saying: "There can be no contemplation where there is no secret." (16.29 min) This is a profound and subtle point that Merton is alluding to here. In my understanding, he is indicating that the truest form of contemplation and meditation happens in silence, where the ego is dissolved, and there is no motivation, ambition, or intention to reveal, claim, cling to, or "discuss" the experiences or insights that arise at the depths of one's interior. This is the 'secret' and the mystery that he is pointing to. For him, it was always his personal and impersonal relationship to an interior God that drove him to seek silence, solitude and stillness - and this is where one touches on that secret or unfathomable mystery. As Merton states, "For the contemplative there is no cogito ("I think") and no ergo ("therefore") but only SUM, I Am. Not in the sense of a futile assertion of our individuality as ultimately real, but in the humble realization of our mysterious being in whom God dwells."
If you have the intention to start seeking silence, invest the daily time and silence will seek you back as well. Don't try to comprehend it. Contemplation itself will bring it's own understanding.
