I think what the S.A.M AI could be, is actually the forsaken. I think in the LF intro, it's the same containment sphere from the end of CW, just updated, and that while the AI was indeed coded to be like Samantha, I think the Forsaken itself could be corrupting it and manipulating the crew to get the sentinel artifact to release him or bring him back to our world again. I made a similar comment under a different stream that this could be another elaborate plan by Zykov since he is known to be able to mimic and trick other people, like he pretended to be Valentina's father.

So, the two divisions have entirely different goals. Temporal Flux is trying to bring his family back by sending Aetherium through time, so there can be a shard there when his wife & son die, allowing their essence to be trapped in the Dark Aether, & exposing this Richtofen to the Dark Aether early, unlocking his memories of Aether. I think the Biological Research group isn't trying to make new bodies for Richtofen's family, they're trying to make Takeo, Tank, & Nikolai, & another Richtofen. With Richtofen's Aether memories restored, he would know that the Dark Aether is a corrupting force, & there literally isn't a way to stop it. The only hope to actually be "free" of it would be to completely remake himself, and let his new "cleansed" self be the hero. Richtofen is making himself & Terminus sacrificial lambs to the Dark Aether so that the new team can fully stop the Dark Aether. He'll fatten up their Essence with Prima Materia. The 2 missing vials were the Essences of Terminus; 1 used to let the new team go into the Dark Aether, & another to take their place, leaving the new heroes still "pure" when they leave. That's also why those vials were like Chaos Gods in a bottle. It was supercharged with Prima Materia, making their Essence at least as great as someone like Kortifex.
