So much talent in one girl, it's just unfair to other singers out there. A once in a generation kind of super gifted talent, totally fascinating.

A terrific and well done version, but Betty Carter's version is surreal. Jazzmeia Horn also does an excellent, though smoother version. For me it's Betty's version then well underneath, Jazzmeia's, then this one. But that doesn't mean that this version doesn't soar.

As far as renditions Jazzmeia Horns version to the best for my ears. This woman is talented but she is bit too much for my taste. Jazzmeia Horn is damn near perfect! ❤❤❤❤

This is n o t a jazz song.
@inklesswells Жыл бұрын
Well, let's see. It's built on a series of instrumental breaks, as were Louis Armstrong's 50 Choruses for Cornet in 1927. Its harmonies are easy for any jazz musician to hear, which is why Branford Marsalis had no trouble playing a solo over the form when Betty Carter came on The Tonight Show. It swings, it's more than twice as old as anyone in Samara's band, and it's been recorded by several leading jazz singers. So if it's an opera song, it's the strangest one I ever heard.

It is absolutely a Jazz song; written by and originally performed by one of Jazz music's most dynamic artists, Ms. Betty Carter!
