This is the best fight we have on video for Samart. So talented, confident, and creative. But he had small lungs though, and his trainer said he never had any heart or any warriors spirit. He always fades in the later rounds. He was just amazingly talented. I wish we had videos of him when he was at his peak and younger.

Yes. So nowadays Samart never want to return to the ring again eventhough how much money offered. Unlike Somrak Kamsing(his close friend) still open to challenge till these day. And once on tv shows Samart answered the question that asked him why he never return to fight again. He siad he know he can never fight like the same so he wants people and his fans to remember him the way he fight so great in his prime. While Somrak answered the other question that asked him, Didn't he afriad to die in the ring coz he so old? He siad why on earth he have to afraid if his opponent did not afraid.

Modern Muay Thai is more sharp and cookie-cutter. Old school Muay Thai had far more techniques, far more durability due to more fights, much higher talent pool and competitors (around 4x more practitioners than today). They also had more creativity thanks to the scoring system. In the golden age balance, beauty, control, domination were scored so you had technically all styles which could win on points but post golden age era was filled with gamblers who influenced clinchers and throwers to be the higher ranking fighters and thus many natural muay fimeu, muay matt, and pretty much most of the 8 or so styles were forced to develop upper strength and be muay khao Thus many natural killers of their natural style were widdled down and changed to muay khao just to be able to win. The diversity and sheer amount of elite pfp during the golden age in every bracket is actually stunning. It would be akin to having 5-10 superleks in every division, not just 1-3

Samart got tired in the 3rd round! But very good fighter, I like his side teep!
Imo people going on about how samart gassed out or lacks spirit are wrong. Wangchannoi simply does what he does and by round 3 is countering Samart's aloof femeur style by applying a ton of pressure, with a lot of spite for dessert lol (with total respect at the same time we see!)

So did I. He seemed to be blocking and countering pretty much everything Wangchannoi was throwing at him. Some devastating elbows, punches and kicks; beautiful balance and technique. He faded in the last 2 rounds, but tbh, I thought it was because Wwangchannoi had accepted Samart as the winner. But obviously, the judges saw something else. Would be nice to get an expert Thai perspective.
He said that “I’m out of energy in boxing I want to say goodbye to Muay fans and ask to stop boxing and I will retired of Muay “. It’s mean his body not flexible due to his age is getting older and focusing on other career instead of boxing. (In true story, on this fight He don't want to fight because He did another career and didn’t have time to practice more. At that time, he was still on the set of a drama before he came to fight for about a week. He had been away from boxing for a while, but someone required him to fight again. So he came to fight and intended to wade in only the first 3 rounds if Wangjan tired and lose, but Wangjan was not tired. So he couldn't continue fighting because he was tired, so he gave up and retired Let this fight be his last fight.)

I don't know exactly what he said, but this was his last true fight in Thailand against any other Thai champions. He announced his retirement here. After this I think he focused on his movie and music career, and fought a few more times with foreigners for extra money.

He basically said: "In today's fight, I have realized that my body hasn't been in good condition since my previous match, and I knew someday I would lose, as has happened today. After the loss today, I would like to send my farewell to all the fans. I will retire from Muay Thai for the rest of my life. Thank you very much."
The only fight I had on a street, I also didn't have a heart to fight. I just wanted the guy to go away, so I didn't attempt much more than teeps, jabs and some roundhoses in return to his attacks and managed to run away when his friend started to run in my direction. Fortunately the guy was even worse fighter than me.
